I have just bought a new Fiat 500 and am having problems with the USB playing tracks in the correct order. The problem occurs when I have a double CD. The tracks were originally ordered as follows: 1-01, 1-02, 1-03, etc and then 2-01, 2-02, 2-03 etc.

Firstly I went through and renamed them so that they are just 01 to 46, removing any reference to the disc number. This didn't work.

So I went to the properties and both track 01 and 24 were showing #1 as they were each the first track on their respective discs. So I went through the properties for each track on disc two and edited their properties to reflect the new track number (24-46). However, it still hasn't worked.

What it plays is the following:

01 Alexander Hamilton
24 What'd I miss
02 Aaron Burr, Sir
25 Cabinet Battle #1
03 My Shot
26 Take a break

etc

So it seems to be ignoring the changes I made to the properties and playing track 1 of the first disc, followed by track 1 of the second disc. The track 2 of the first disc, followed by track 2 of the second disc, and so on.

Any idea? I can't find any other reference to track number in the properties. The only thing I can see is a reference to disc 1/2 and disc 2/2 but I can't see how that would influence the track order.

Thanks

Are these MP3 files? If so, when you say you're editing the properties are you doing this through the windows right click thingy? There is an ID3 field for disc number, which windows might not be able to pick up on/edit. Find a piece of software (I'm at work or I'd get the link) called MP3Tag&Rename, should allow you to bulk edit the files to remove the disc number tag and just edit the track numbers.

Thanks. I downloaded the software and tried that. The disc tags did still refer to disc 01/02 and 02/02. So I removed all of that and so it was just the tracks that were numbered. Still mixes them up in the car :(

Yes.

The track order displayed in windows explorer is the order I want them. The tags when I used the programme you suggested are all correct in order, with nothing to associate them to either disc one or disc two.
