Pwr Drain

Hopefully a simple question, never had this problem with the install previously but have just upgraded the subs to approx 2000rms now even at a quarter power the car lights respond to the bass beat, I am still using the 1F caps per sub, do anyone know if upgrading these to 2 or maybe 3 will stop this effect or do I have to look into upgrading alternator etc

TIA

Steve

Re: Pwr Drain

Do you mean you've upgraded the amps for the subs to 2000wrms?

At this sort of power, you could be pulling nearly 300amps, power caps ain't the way, more batteries and a bigger alternator is.

After seeing your install, an optima yellowtop battery and uprated alternator will more than likely cure the problem

Re: Pwr Drain

powercap will help

but would be better with alt + batt

powercaps work by using the charge they can hold when the bass kiks in and charges when there is no bass on the amplifier or power being used by it

No actually upgraded the speakers to enable me to use the 1000wrms per speaker so I have basically increased my pwr draw by times 2 on the sub o/p. These are capped at 1F.

The rear outs which I am using for more of a 'mid' / 'filler' range bass which is not capped at all - wondering wether this one should be- through 12" subs and 'mid' / 'filler' range on the HF range - 6x9 ( for those that say 6x9 are no use I agree if used for bass when using a sub but have found using them for mid -high freq seems to fill a gap in the spectrum - could be just me but I am happy) these are fed by approx 200wrms.

Componat speakers at the front are driven by approx 150wrms x 2 sets.

So total pwr is about 2700wrms or 5170wpeak.

Been looking at the yellow tops and think I will try that route first once I get the money together .

Anymore advice always ready to listern.

Steve
