The seats aren't thick metal, and the brackets are quite flimsy, so in an accident at (for example) 30/40 mph it will most likely break the seat in half, if the seats are properly pushed back, and hit you in the back. Ok it probably wont kill you with the buffer of the seat but living with back pain for the rest of your life is not exactly what I'd call "Fun"
If you're going faster,airbags will stop you being killed by the impact, but sub boxes/amps flying round the place, probably will...
Your life or a fiver's worth of brackets and screws from a DIY shop, I know which one I'd choose.
