you sure you not got to swop over the yellow an red wires?

tried it no luck its driving me pissing crackers i know its a simple thing..... do i split an existing ignition live? can some one show me a diagram or pictue of theirs?

My mark 1 punto only has a battery live....I often come out in the morning & found I left the stereo on
I gathered from badboys post he wants it to turn of with the ignition insteard of being on all the time by doubling up the battery live.

I just tapped mine off the ignition barrel, i think it was the wire going to the indicators (red?)

so only works when key is turned.

Any chance u could explain how to do this im new to cars?!

If you take off the ignition shroud, you should see a white connector coming from the left side with 3 or 4 wires coming from it. Just strip a bit of the insulation off using a sharp knife and twist your thin wire onto it. If possible, it is best not to cut these wires, just to strip the insulation off. Make sure to use plenty of insulation tape when you're finished though.

When you've done that, route the wires so they're well out of the way of the pedals (sounds obvious but it's been done so many times...)

Good luck

Scotch connectors could be a cleaner quicker method of splicing into the wires :) I wouldnt really recommend just twisting wires onto others and taping up if you want it to last and to have a good connection (although would still work). Cutting the wire and resoldering (or crimping) them together with the splice would be the best method, a scotch connector would suffice and requires no tools :)

scotch connector??

Thers a bloke at work that had a tester and tested my wires he said my wiring was wrong and showed me what was what... anyway it turns out that there is an ignition live already tapped off however it doesnt seem to work on head unit.. the bloke rekons not enough voltage through the wire or sommet like that he said i could do with changing the wire??

just wondering any1 got a mk1 punto and managed to wire their ignition live to their pioneer cd player ok its really pissing me off now!!!

The answer is above, take it from the switch, use a scotch lock as they are ok for interior use but not exterior.

cheeers going to try this in the week.......
