Hi all

Ive recently installed a new sony xplod f7500 cd/mp3 player in my 02 reg punto active. The head unit has a sub out connector on the back, does this mean i can just buy a sub and connect it up without the need for an amp it also has 3 4v pre outs? i dont really want to buy an amp if i can help it

You will need an amp, those outputs are to plug in an amp.

what do you think the sub out connector would be for then? in the instruction book it just shows a sub being plugged into this connector in the back?

I think its to control the level of the sub from the headunit. It will be in sound settings somewhere

It's to connect an active sub, which comes in a box/tube with the amp built in. In most cases they sound like poop, and you can probably get a sub, box, amp and wiring kit cheaper! and you still need the same amount of wiring, only it goes into one place.

Thin we'r gonna buy the xplod sub with the box and an amp,tho the guy at halfords said that the 250w amp would not allow the 1200w sub to reach its full potential. So showed us the subs with fitted amps,but never said if there was a better amp to buy

Ive just got a Vibe CBR-12 Active sub and I love it! Alot of people think they dont give that good sound quality, including me when I heard one a while ago with heavy dance music on :yuck: It couldnt keep up with the speed of that bass but I listen to punk/rock/alternative and it sounds superb. Only cost me 189.99 inc P+P and they gave me a wiring kit 350W RMS aswell- cant beat it! Best with slower bass though.

Different subs perform differently with different types of music. Best bet is to go along to a cruise and have a listen to various systems to see what would work best. Active subs will generally produce a different sound to separates, a bit like home audio really

Is there any1 who can help?????We were all ready to buy the xplod sub n amp when the guy says that is still has 2 b fitted to the battery n u just feed it thro the gromit from the engine,but we cant find where inside the car it will come out. Tried lifting the carpet but still cant see where it will come out,tried to see so we know what direction etc to put it in
