Ok I went to the breakers today to scrounge a headlight for the cinq, when low and behold what should I find? 3 puntos with the door pods and 2 factory subs. soooo. to cut along story short, I left the pods, (difficult to carry on a small motorbike :D ) and i took the grey sub (the other was black) and it's bracket. it cost me a tenner plus vat for the sub, bracket, wiring and a rear wiper. I wholely recommend Roger Windleys to anyone who needsa parts in lincolnshire!

ok back to topic, I know the mk1 punto doesn't have the wiring built in (especially a 55sx,) and I've already worked out that the orange and orange/black wires, and the blue/yellow and blue/red wires are for the sound input. Do I just take these from the rear shelf speakers?

I know Black is earth so I'll run that to the rear earth point.

i Think the grey is remote on? (I hope?)

so that leaves the red/white which must be the power. Where is this connected to in a mk2? could I take it off the amp power lead I already have running from my battery?

On a final note, has anyone done this before (fitting the mk2 sub into a mk1 I mean?) and if so how did they attach the bracket as the threads are not in the bodywork all ready? I was thinking of making extentions to attach it to the rear shelf mounts, but I'm stumped on how to bolt it to the floor?

If anyone has a wiring diagram or any photos i'd appreciate it?

wow you got all the wires right :d

they are exactly as you say
black = earth
red/white equals = power
orange green = left hand rear
orange black = left hand rear
blue yellow = right hand rear
blue red = right hand rear
grey = remote on (autoantenna feed from stereo).

its an inline sub so in the mk2 the speaker wires just split into 2 one going to rear speaker one going to sub.

the power lead in the mk2 punto runs to the passenger fusebox and connected to a 15amp fuse. if yoru amp power lead is fused then i assume it would work ??

as for fitting hmmm not sure obviusly in mk2 fits over rear passenger wheel arch and assume holes are there. ive never done a custom onstall of anything in boot so not sure what to suggest. you dont really wanna drill floor lol. if there are some holes all ready iover wheel arch but just dont line up, then maybyou could make an adaptor plate . wich screws into them and then has holes in that that you can screw sub to.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, make up an adaptor to mount it. I'm thinking of adding some velcro to help hold it on seeing as i'm missing the lower bolt, depends on how tight it fits. I checked at the scrappy that it fits in, but I cant remember how tight!!!

Luckily the wiring should be straight forward then, just take a splice off the speakers. My amp powers my 6x9's so i could run a splice off those, but I'm guessing that'll overload the sub's onboard amp? I'm hoping the sub has a treble blocker built in?

yeah i would not take the feed from your amp. as the sub has its own onboard mini amp to power it. and its designed to take feed from regular speaker wires.

i would assume the sub has a treble blocker yeah, other wise it would just be a regular speaker.

it aint the most powerfull sub thats for sure due to its size but does make a differnce to the sound. in my car. and is nice and compact.
