Does anyone know if the HU's from America are a straight plug and play system as if I'd bought a HU from Halfrauds?

I'm looking at one on ebay (item number 5782473220) as I can't afford a brand new HU as I'd originally planned so was looking at used ones...

Is there a difference and how easy are any problems to overcome? I've also got the Pioneer 6 Disc changer - would it be compatible with the above HU?

Cheers,
barry

That makes more sense :) Though I know nothing about the way digital tuners work so will take your word for it.

How much are you looking to spend Baz?

I was originally looking at £200 but now it's got to be as cheap as possible!!!

I need/want it to be a Pioneer as I've used them before and really like them & got a 6 Disc changer sat in the shed waiting to go into car once I get a HU sorted!!

So basically everything should work alright but I might not pick up some stations as clear as possible? I've already got an antenna booster from when I had a Pioneer in my old Polo (reception was **** in that car!!)

It just the HU I saw on ebay (see first post) is still at £50 with no bidders - the guy seems to be in the UK so tax wouldn't be a prob. What does everyone think? Should I risk buying it or not?

It's the Pioneer DEH-P8600MP. The ebay link is here and it's on the caraudiosecurity.com site here for £299.99

Just had another thought - will the ISO connectors be the same on an american unit as a UK one...?

the radio/tuner wont work if you buy it from america, my mate bort a sony HU from america and the radio still doesnt work 2 yrs later! however if you dont like the radio, CD's will play fine!

Btw watch out for the expensive tax they charge for shipping, my mate had to stump up 20 extra quid just to take it home from the post office!
