Hi all.

I have just wired up my stereo (Sony mex bt3100u) to my amp (Vibe slick a1 4 channel class ab) which is in the boot but now unfortunately I am suffering some weird interference on FM reception when the volume is turned up.

Basically on certain stations (weaker stations) I am getting a crackling when I turn the volume up, the crackling occurs almost to the beat of the music and when a quieter situation such as a DJ speaking occurs it goes away.

I don't think its the aerial as if I turn the sub off and fade to the rear speakers (un amped) I can turn it up to full volume with no problems and at quieter volumes with speakers set up as normal it doesn't happen either.

The stereo is also very sensitive and can pick up stations which my wife's car next door cant pick up (Planet rock a Birmingham area station in Northampton) which leads me to believe that the FM reception may be effected by power fluctuations caused by the amp when its turned up loud, although it does the same if the engine is running or not so I am unsure.

The headlights do dim ever so slightly when cranked up but nothing too extreme, and I don't get any problems on any other sources.

Can someone advise if I am correct in assuming power, or if i am wrong can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Would a capacitor help? If not to solve the power issue but to maybe isolate the amp a bit from the rest of the electrical system incase the amp is putting out random interference.
