Hi guys

Help needed. I want to get the DEH-X8500DAB stereo from Pioneer. I've been to Halfords and I apparently need

  • Wiring Loom - I know I need this for my stalk controls - £89.99
  • Aerial adapter - £12.99
  • Fascia plate - £44.99
  • Wiring harness - £19.99

I also need a dab aerial...lets say about £20....that's more to the bloody stereo, without fitting. Problem is Halfords are the only guys who gave e any ino about what I need.

If anyone can point me in the right direction of alternatives or even better. Place hen I car enter the stereo and see all possibilities for harness/aerials etc. that'd be great.

I get the distinct feeling I'm paying over the odds based on above.

I sure I need the able, but could I fit it, and could I source cheaper?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there I'm no expert ,, I got quoted 29.99 for fascia for punto at halfords quick search on eBay I got exactly same one off eBay for 2.99 :) well worth it.

I'm pretty sure you could save £££'s by looking on eBay instead of halfords.

hi there, it's for a 58 plate Fiat Bravo....there just seems to be a lack of information out there.

If you don't know what you don't know, you can't ask questions about it and as I stated, so far on Halfords have managed to give me ANY indication of what else I'll need to get everything working, however they can't tell me things like "how" the steering column controls will work with the new head unit...just that it will.

Contacted Pioneer, contacted a couple of other resellers...nothing.1 Craziness!

thanks for your response.

Had a look on eBay 30+ for the Arial adapter fascia kit and cage that item finishes in ten mins will probably be re listed tho and after that just need to find stalk adapters.

If All else fails find a company called radio world on eBay seem to aell anything and everything to do with car entertainment :)

I'm getting the same stereo. Whole kit is costing about £300! You shouldn't be paying so much for the loom

Here's my list. That's pretty much all you need but for the bravo... Only extra thing you'll need is the aerial which is 40 from dabonwheels... For an external dab/am/FM aerial.

Thanks for the link.....do you have a Punto?

Presumably all I need to do is find Bravo equivalents .

Hi Guys

Right, attached is a list of parts I've managed to gather together. 2 of them are optional (i.e. I could switch the DAB aerial out for a glass aerial and then not need the extension) but this is my ideal setup to be fair.

All I need to do now is find somebody to fit it....that is, unless you guys think this could be fitted manually?

I've no idea how I would go about fitting the aerial bit...advice?

Halfords are going to tell me to do one if I try and get them to fit..Fiat themselves have said "go away".

help!

Hi Mate,
I've been looking for a fitter as well as I have all my kit already. A quick search on google and found a couple of mobile ICE fitters that will come to you. Spoke to one yesterday and he seemed willing to purchase the parts incase I didn't have them but I had all the parts...
He'll be calling me back sometime today to give me a quote.

A bit of personal opinion tho... If you're willing to use an external DAB aerial, then look at the DAB,FM,AM combination arieal because then, you wouldn't need to have two aerials on your car, and more importantly, you wouldn't need to drill a new hole.

One of these guys should surely cover your area... good place to start...

cheers for the response. I canned this idea though. I grabbed a Pioneer 4500DEH and fit it myself (didnt bother with DAB in the end). Although the steering wheel controls worked, they were laggy and intermittant as well as the functionality not being anywhere close to the B&M.

All I really want to achieve now is A2DP streaming.....im looking at a half decent FM Transmitter that I can route behind the dash and hide.

I didn't pay Halfords prices.....as for the lagging controls...I'm not sure, but first experiences count...so that's me put off.

I don't understand why the new B&M headunits can't be installed in older cars....the tech has to be there!
