Had my HGT for nearly a year now and never been able to cure my head unit of asking for the code whenever the unit is either powered of by the ignition or by the power switch on the radio, it driving me nuts!! The system been a way for repair on numerous occations but never been fully cured, it's been recoded by Baupunkt so it sees the changer again, there's a separate live feed going to the head unit which half cured the problem untill I left the boot open for a few hours, now it's back to asking for the code every time the dammed things powered of! Please someone put me out of my missery and tell me how i can cure this, without taking a large hammer to the radio and smashing to bits!!
Don't want to loose the sat-nav on the system but could I replace the CD-changer with an MP3 player and wire it to the same speakers, then I can listen to the MP3 player then when I need the sat-nav power of the MP3 and turn on the sat-nav, is this possible?

Mine seems to do this too. It seems that if i switch the Head Unit off and then the engine and the car stands for any length of time it wants the code the next time it is switched on.

HOWEVER - if I don't actually turn the head Unit off and just turn the engine off, then come back later it doesn't need the code.

So all I do is never turn the radio etc...off, simply turn the volume right down if i don't want to hear it, and I have no probs.

have u tried this?

Not tried this but as I understand it the ECU will power the radio off after an hour anyway? Plus turning the ignition off kills the power to my radio.
Cheers for the replay though.
Seam to have two options, replace the head unit with a DX-R52 cost £280, or send the unit to a plce in Birmingham for repair, cost £25+vat for collection and estimate, then £100 for repair, can't decide whether it's worth spening an other £100 on a 5 year old unit, or live with it till I can afford the new one.

amzing what you can learn if u just read the radio manual.
If i can remeber for the top o fmy head:
Press DSC button then a menue will come up scoll down and you will find a setting called security
Then select Radio Code And input the code then you get prompt if you wish to the automatic coding off.
also another option it offers is to turn the flashign led red light offf also
