Doing a boot install in my car today,but having problems with my subs.
previously had a 500w amp fitted and running a 400w 12" sub and 2 6x9's and everything was fine,but have bought a couple of 8" subs in a box and tried to fit them in aswell,i have got another 500w amp and am currently trying to wire everything in together but have now lost all bass to my 12" sub for some reason although 6x9's are still working,i havent linked the new 8" in yet so they cant have affected the way the old speakers were running.
does anyone have any ideas as to what has happened to my bass? :bang:

So you have two 500w amps, one powering your 12"sub and 6x9s, the other powering the two 8" subs...

How have you wired them?

Theres lots of different ways it could be done, it could be due to the wiring.

Or you could have simply blown the sub.

havent wired the second amp yet or the 2 8"s all i did was disconnect my 6x9's tried to wire the 8"'s instead to make sure they actually work and then reconnected my 6x9's!!

Sounds like your subs blown. Try connecting the sub to your other amp and see if the sub works.

Maybe your headunit reset itself. check your headunit for settings if it did reset then your wiring needs seeing. in anycase check ALL your wiring and settings on your AMP.


You should always have a less powerful amp then your audio components.

This is the best way to stop em from accidentally blowing.

and if you feel you're gonna need the extra ampage then you should have both the GAIN at zero and the Head Unit at zero Volume before attempting to reconfigure your system.

Make sure all your wires are properly insulated otherwise you may fry somthing regardless of gain or volume.

well finished for today,found out i had blown my 12" so replaced it with a boschmann 12" but sounds crap so gonna look for a new 12" sub that has some kick to it.got my 2x8" subs in and working but had to disconnect my 6x9's as didnt have power cables to link other amp in so gonna have to do it during the week.thanx guys for your feedback and hopefully will get some pics on when its all finished.
