paypal finally loves me, so im sort of addicted to ebay now , i have brought a fridge and telly which are going to eventually be fitted in the car

this question is a bout the telly, it may be a stupid question, it most probably is, but it looks too easy to wire in, just 2 wires positive and negative, surely i have to go jumping through hoops to get it working

another quick q the invertor i brought, needs earthing, as it comes with minimal instructions that i dont understand im sort of stumped, i thought the negative wire would act as the earth, but it seems it doesnt as theres a place for the earth wire to fix too.

im hoping to wire it all in over the weekend so any pointers are welcomed :D

Regarding the telly, i wouldnt have thought so... All it needs is power. The signal in will need wiring too if you wanted to connect your PS or similar to it. It may have built in areal too so one less thing to worry about.

The invertor - i would have thought the negative wire was the ground too  Maybe its a smaller seperate ground to remove any noise from the inverted power?

the telly has av leads built into a box that everything goes into then power leads go off in one direction and thing that plugs into telly goes in another

will i cause much damage if i dont earth the invertor

Theres a possibility that spikes on the powersource may fry some components, so IMO better to be safe than sorry...

i remember when i wired in my air horns  i took an earth from the negative wire

you reckon i could do the same here attach to earth to the negative and just run one wire, or would it be best just to have a seperate earth

If your original earth wire is thick enough then i dont see why not... It all ends up on the bodywork and back to the battery at one point.

it only a smallish fridge, still trying to figure out how to power it, might just leave it in my room and keep the beers chilled :p

ps2 going in too, not sure how or where yet

the tellys in and working :D

fire extinguisher was on stand by :p

just another quicky about the wiring :D

i have attached the telly to the wiring of my old neons which worked from fag lighter adapter, is this ok, i cant smell any burning at the moment, but is it safe in the long run

am having problems with the invertor, do i wire the negative to the car body as well as the earth, cause i thought earth and negative was the same thing but seems it aint on this invertor

fook

am i right in thinking smoke coming out the speakers is bad

i got everything connected up apart from sound, the built in speakers dont seem to be working, then i noticed smoke coming out of them

does the smoke just mean the bedding in  lol or have i broke it, telly still works though but i dont wanna turn it on again :(

gaz just try not to blow your car up

We need to help Gaz...!

I have to go out :( Gaz, don't break anything. It sounds like the speakers are broken though (such little speakers don't need bedding in lol)

thanks for the concern paul :D

i dont know if i should try it again or not :(

the headphones work when plugged into telly

would plugging it into fag lighter make any difference to having it hooked upto battery

Doesnt really matter although the current allowing to pass through may be restricted (brains dead at teh mo). If the telly was drawing too much causing problems it would have blown the fuse. Its only if the wire you are using is too thin for the current that it melts and catches fire

aww just tried it again and smoke coming out of speaker holes :(

could it be drying out lol

wire looks, smells and feels fine

what happens if engine is off or on, that do anything to it to power?

i wanna play playstaion but all i get is the smell of a bbq :(
