hi i recently baught a kenwood HU for my car and its all wired up fine, i also have a wire set ( live from battery to boot ) and from pre out in my HU to boot. both arent connected to sub/amp. ok my problem is when use the radio it stops and puts an error message saying ( protection ) which i looked up and says its a short circuit. I checked my wireing and see no loose wires touching anything it resolved itself before but not now. does anyone have any ideas im getting sick of it :/

Is this only when you have the power for the amps connected to the battery?

If it continues after disconnecting everything external from the Head unit theh try a different one from a friend or something. Dont forget to take the + off first from your amps and connect it only last so as to stop power going down the RCA's etc.

done some fault finding today, it seems only to appear when i put the volume loud on the new HU. it makes a sparking sound once its too loud i think i need new speakers :/

ive taped all the wires up as much as i can, just going to deal with it just now and wait to buy new speakers but ones to fit where they were >.<

and that costs money >.< and i live in airdrie

So does setting your car on fire. Seriously if you are geting sparking from the HU you need to at least try a different one. If it continues then go see an installer. You cant put a price on safety. I read something like 80% of car fires happen due to faulty installation of electrics.

ok i baught a vibe cbr 12 sub with amp included but it came with no wires and its a 1600w sub 550 rms or something but my wire kit is only 100-1000 watts is that bad >.< haha i also need help wireing this up and cant find anything online :/ i have 1 power cable, rca cables and a ground cable but i dont know where they connect into the sub or where to connect the ground cable to the car

Yeah that wiring kit is probably not a good idea.

You need a remote (rem) going from hu to amp.

For the earth (-) you rub a small patch down in the spare wheel bay drill a hole and bolt it to the floor. Then put vaseline over the patch to protect it.

sorry im not the best in this area, could you be more descriptive, even pics? i have a remote thing but its for a connecter like one that is chunkey :/ it worked once but it was very quiet and then died and i dont know if i have my wires in correct and i dunno where they go :(

Sorry which wire cant you place? red is + which is battery to amp. Ground is gnd to the chassis. Remote is blue rem on head unit to rem on amp and the RCA should be self explitory.

does it matter if wires are exposed in the terminal for the battery to amp? and does it matter where on chassis? what would happen if i didnt use the ground and remote? there is no remote connector for my head unit :/ ive done rca lol

punto mk2 and cheers bud, i got my power in and rca cables in the back but i have no idea because there is like 6 places for cables and i only have rca in atm :p getting my blackberry the mora so i will take pics maybe even friday hopefully

Wack some pictures or details of the amp up, Stu is the one with these things, Did you manage to run the wires to the boot ok? have you ran the RCA, Power & Remote wire? the remote is the thin one :)..

HAve you got links to any of the stuff you have?

got my sub and new parcel shelf in all wired up, also wired in my standard speakers. my mates an electrician and he noticed wires are different on each side of the car for the speakers. and also its heavy duty wires from the HU to smaller wires at the back. anyone think thats the cause to my short circuit

I doubt it unless there was a bare wire at one of the joins. Where the aftermarket front speakers? If a wire gets traped somewhere it can have funny effects but you normally here something is wrong.

i dont have front speakers lol, its only when i turn the volume up loud that it goes off, but the thing is when i had my standard HU in i could put the volume loud as i want. Then i put the new HU in and it affects the standard HU and the new ones. so maybe too much power from the HU im not sure.
