im using an alpine IDA-X305 hu and have got a KCE-400bt unit to hook up, i have wired it in but cant get it to hook up to my phone. I contacted alpine and they said the box needs to go into standby mode to connect to a bluetooth device, the KCE can but the hu cant because i have the switched live connected to the constant live (which most people do on grandes) is at simple as connecting the switched live on the headunit to the switched on say the cigarette lighter? will this mean my headunit will switch on and off with my ignition as the manufacturer intended or will it only do the same as hooking it up to the factory switched?

That seems strange surely it should just come on with the HU. I would try and wire the HU to an ignition source and see what happens TBH.

The Cigar Lighter is the easiest. The best would be to splice into the Ignition cable coming from the Barrel. Dont forget to use an inline fuse.
