hey, I recently got an 08 plate Grande Punto DUB with the Blaupunkt Nashville head unit which used to turn on and off with the ignition, I installed a fli trap 12 active bass tube and everything was working fine for a few hours and then my head unit turned off for no apparent reason :( Since this happened the head unit won't turn on or off with the ignition and neither will the amplifier on the bass tube

I've tried checking fuses but they all seem fine, and I've used a mulitmeter on the red 12v wire going into the head unit, but this doesn't read anything with or without the ignition on.

please help I'm completely lost!! :(

thanks

I have just done that same thing to my Grande Punto.
I took some pictures and put them on my webpage. You can use it as a complete guide to getting that "ACC" feed working.

Those amps you built happy to run 4 ohm? What power are they and are they just for the standard speakers?

Ehm, they were when tested in my living room, but in the car they picked up all kinds of noise so I will have to get back to you on this when I have gotten rid of the noise problem. On the test-bench however, they happily drove my Dali 2002's to rather high levels.

Yeah i thought that may have happened. Unfortunately that bit that you have attached the RCA inputs too is not shielded any way near enough so you will pick up noise.
Im not that familiar with home made amps or even how they protect the preamp stage from picking up interference from the chassis in a normal amp.
I would imagine that you need to earth it in as many places as possible including the barrels of the RCA's at both ends.
Also is the amp designed to accept the voltage that your RCA's on your headunit outputs. The gain on the amp is quite important.
Just to give you an idea on what is involved in a car amp this is what a good 5 channel amp looks like inside.
