How much of a difference does sound deadening (brown bread for example) make to the vibrations of the car when the subs are giving it some?

Just noticed how bad my rear hatch rattles when the volumes up a fair bit. its only when my hatch is closed that theres the vibrations.

Another idea is my subs are facing the rear hatch. what if i turned them round to have them facing up and towards the rear seats, would that have an effect?

And i suppose while ive got your attention - mounting amps. How much damage does it really do to the amp if you mount them at 90 degree angle for instance? basically i want to put a wooden panel on the back of the rear seats of my car to screw my amps to as the amps take up alot of room with the subs, and have little room.

Thanks in advance
Luke

i'd imagine mounting the amps at 90 degrees would affect the cooling abilities of the amp.

Sound deadening is always worth the investment. Why do you think when huge custom installs they layer the roof and everything in it. (y)

Might sound stupid but get some mates to push the boot, then you can tell if it is. (y)

Yes turning them upwards would have an effect but bass wont be quite as good as the sub will have to work harder. (y)

Mounting an amp at any angle is fine as long as you have around 4cm around the edge of it for air to escape... This is true as long as it doesnt have an extracer fan thing, then you cant really mount it upside down. (y)

my amps are mounted at the back of the seats, i havent had no trouble with them

Thanks all (y)

Will have to wait till next month till i do my install then, so i can afford the sound-deadening, powercap, mdf and trim. But at least i can make use of the back of the rear seats to make more space, and have a creative install.

Prob gonna have to get some more thick speaker wire too thinking about it :(

Want a decent tip bout wiring...?

Tough i'm gonna give 1 anyway. :D

Get some thick wiring from richersounds. Some of that 'Gale wiring is amazing. It can take huge amounts of power and bout 1/2 the price of car stuff. (y)

Try www.richersounds.com

Hope this helps. Dan

Thanks for the heads up, looks very similar to the stuff i have already (y)

i used aqua seal in mine does just the same as all the other stuff and is very cheap ive got to 10 inch pioneers in my boot and 2 jbl gto 4000 amps and mine rattled like mad till i put this in now it doesnt ive got pure hard deep bass with no rattels!

Luke, I'd guess that some of your Uno's rattling is probably down to the rear number plate. I used to have an Uno and my 12" sub in the boot made the damn thing rattle like mad. It might worth taking the number plate off and putting a few blobs of silicon sealant (bath sealant!) on the back of it to stop it rattling.
