Apologies if I'm going over old ground but I need some pointers :) Checked some old threads but none cover it.

The car is a 53 reg Punto mk.2 facelift (mk2.5?), currently has a cheap Blaupunkt headunit fitted which was fitted by the previous owner, either it or the wiring is faulty as it turns off intermittently, and often won't turn on. Also it has no illumination at night but it appears this might be as the car doesn't have the illumination wire in the loom.

Got a replacement Fiat radio off my brother, from a late mk.2 Punto, just a basic radio cassette. Has a sticker on it showing what each pin is for though not immediately obvious what each symbol means. Appears to follow the standard ISO pins, but it has pin 4 marked 'NC' which I think should be 12v permanent, but the pin itself is missing from the ISO connector on the radio so it doesn't get any power. Did some re-arranging of the plug and put a permanent 12v feed to the 12v ignition pin 7, radio turned on but just displayed 'CHECK'. Pushed a load of buttons but didn't appear to be any way to enter a code, plus brother said it didn't need one. During this time I also put 12v to pin 3 which on the radio has a 12v switched symbol, but according to ISO standard pins should be a 12v feed for reverse, radio also displayed 'CHECK'. At one point I tried to start the car, not sure if the 12v feed was on pin 7 or 3 but car wouldn't start (starter ran fine), turned off radio and it started but fuel gauge dropped to its stop, unplugged radio and it jumped back up but then noticed power steering light was on and no power steering, restart failed to fix it so I pulled and checked all the fuses in the panel under the ignition switch, now everything appears back to normal :worship:

Anyway, put old radio back in which appears to be working again...

Currently in the car the ISO plug is wired:

Pin 1: Unconnected
Pin 2: Earth (black)
Pin 3: 0v, appears redundant... (grey)
Pin 4: Unconnected
Pin 5: 12.4v when engine off, 4.6v whilst engine running and for about 20 seconds after turning off, then 6.3v for 20 seconds, then jumps back to 12.4v. Assuming this is CANBUS (pink/white)
Pin 6: 12v permanent (red)
Pin 7: Approx 0.5v (pink/black)
Pin 8: Unconnected

Is the above correct/faulty or has it been messed with at some point to get the Blaupunkt to work?

(Standard ISO Pins, I'm looking at the power block, connector A)

Thanks for any help...I'm loath to try anything else since I don't want any more fault lights flashing on the dashboard ;)
