when i said i was changing my front speakers, someone suggested changing the wiring aswell.

so i put off changing the speakers till i had everything ready.

so this afternoon i set about changing the wire, as i was putting in my new HU and laying the wires for my new amp (soon to arrive) :D

however i couldn't for the life of me work out which way the original wires run and which socket they go into. i have only taken the HU out and the speaker covers.
Do i need to take more stuff off, or should i be able to sort it out from what i have taken out??

Also are there any earth points near the boot that i can use?? your suggestions please.

Please help so i can crack on with the job tomorrow whilst i have time.

Thanks
DAN

It was me. :D

theres an earth point for the rear lights in the back of the boot, or you can drill a new 1.

Are you just canging the speaker wire?

You can just cut the wiring and leave it in if you cant trace it. It is covered in black tape if irc. Its quite easy to see where it goes if you look upside down. lol

i'll cut it if no one has a better idea, where abouts on the thing that slots into the HU does the new wire go???

Why didnt i think of that. and if that doesnt work i will curse you for making suggestions.

I hold no responsibility for anything, especially fires. lol Joke! But seriously if you cant / cant be bothered to take the old out then at least cover it up properly! The worst that can happen is you get the +ve and -ve the wrong way round and you have to swap em over. Or you end up with left as right and right as left. Mines still like that. lmao. :D

I assume you want the earth for the amp? I would take a new plus and minus to the battery rather than use an earthing point.

Getting plus and minus the wrong way round on your speakers won't do any more harm than making it sound crap. The speakers don't go in and out together but cancel a lot of the sounds out (remember the constructive and destructive interferance lesson in physics?) You can tell if the polarity is wrong by putting a basy track on then with the doors shut and you in the car cover up one door speaker or rear speaker and the sound of the base will increase, if it stays the same you are ok.
