hi guys/gals.

basically i have has my stilo 1.2 for a few months and unfortunately it came with a cassete.

i thought i would change it to the kenwood i had left over from my calibra, and i bought the iso block etc....but when connected there was no power to the cd player. I did do the check too to see if all of the wires were working and they were. anyway i put in the old one again and it worked fine.

now i have just bought a new one, thinking that my old kenwood may have just been faulty, and this time no ISO block was needed....but yet again no power. As you can imagine it is so frustrating, and i have checked both manuals, and the wires do seem to be in the same place but nothing is turning on? I was wondering if anyone could shine some light on my situation, especially on why the stock one is working, yet the brand new one and my old kenwood one isnt :/

please help....would be appreciated so much.

Alex

Join the yellow and red together (using the bullet plugs that should be attached to the headunit's loom) as the Stilo loom doesn't have a switched live. You'll have to manually switch the CD player off yourself when leaving the car. Other option is to make your own switch live feed using either the ciggy lighter or the ignition barrel. There's some guides in the "Guides" section above. :)

Thanks a lot for your quick response

My new cd player does not need an ISO block, so it is meant to run straight from the stock wiring, yet still nothing? Please more help :(

thanks

silvercrest with intergrated blue tooth, usb etc.

on the top it has crb-532....dont know if it means anything?

Oh, you've got one of those German ones that don't have an external loom. You have 3 options, take it back and get one of another brand e.g. Alpine, Sony etc which do have an external loom and will allow you to join the yellow and red together. Or you can buy an extension harness like:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ISO-EXTENSION-HARNESS-LEAD-ADAPTOR-FOR-VW-CAR-RADIO_W0QQitemZ370214573414QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Terminals_Cabling_ET?hash=item5632821566

You would then need to join the red and yellow together.

The final option is to use your Kenwood unit, which probably still works, all you have to do is join the red and yellow together like in the picture in the link (second post).

if i went and bought the harness, would it then fire up fine afterwards, or would i still need to connect wires....this new cd player in my opinion is far better than the kenwood one so i would like to try and get it up and running....what would you do. by the way your help is very much appreciated.

Since it hasn't already worked by simply plugging in the ISO blocks, it wouldn't work with an extension harness either. You'll still have to join the power wires together.

ok, i will have a go at that just with the standard wires and let you know if this has been successful. thanks for your time and help

I would leave the standard wires alone and buy an extension harness.

Yes buy an extension harness, fanny about with the wires on that, not on the Stock loom, you'll only cause heart ache!

on the Harness join the red and the yellow wire, its the easiest way to get a 12v live to your unit. However you then need to manually switch on/off your stereo when you start/stop the engine.

Alternatively take the unit back to the shop, get a refund and send me £85 and I'll send you the spare Fiat Stilo single CD unit I have lol.

Slightly OT, but would it be easy enough to connect a Sub to the origional CD player HU, and would the car recognise it for the CAN to give the display on the dash (audio rpt)?
