Hi, I am having a few issues fitting a new Sony Head unit to a 07 plate grande punto. I have searched this site but most of the threads seem to be about older type puntos.

I have the required fascia plate and all the plugs but my problem is the cage. If I leave the cars cage in the new HU slides straight through. The Sony cage doesn't fit into the cars cage, and if I take out the cars cage the sony cage has nothing to hold onto as the hole is too big (except the fascia plate at the front of course but the HU is too heavy to hang onto that alone).

Could someone tell me please how to get around this.

Steve

Did you secure it somehow at the back because the weight of the unit is making it drop

I have the autoleads one. The sony cage fits it spot on. The problem is that the actual recess for the stereo is so big the sony cage come nowhere near to touching the sides. I have messed around with it and realised that the rubber bung when fitted to the back holds the stereo up alright. I suppose the only problem is that it can't be locked in. Cheers for the replies.

Thanks guys, I've managed to get it sorted. Once I bent over the tangs on the Sony cage and made sure the rubber locator on the back of the HU was properly located in the hole at the back of the compartment the whole thing is much more secure. Now I have to find somewhere to wire in a switched live! I can gaurantee she'll leave it on and flatten the battery!
