Hi,

Having just looked at a Panda i notice they have the option of a double-din stereo! It been 10 years since i bought my all singing and dancing Pioneer with mini-disc head unit and OEL display but is it possible to watch films using a SD card via a double din head unit. Im looking at spending about £500 tops - any recomendations ???

And is there any other tweeks to make the inside a nicer place to be ?

:worship:

have a look at jvc as theres is a detachable front which is a first in d-din h/u
or the kenwood both excellent units
but as always its your call just do your home work or you may regret it

That all depends what you want?

My Panda is a quite a nice place to be as it's had extensive soundproofing done along with a fairly high end audio install.

As for the double din, have a gander at a few websites, this lot are pretty good by all accounts (link to double dins):

Ask the retailer if it does what you want, google the model number for reviews as sometimes you can find some great tests by magazines.

Hi,

the web link shows a pioneer at £850 ! How do you get it for £500 ??? Also is it possible to play movies using the SD card function? Can you get movies to play on the move? And lastly is there anyway to get the steering controls to work with the headunit?

Any other suggestions? thanks in advance(y)

at the moment there is no ready made can-bus adaptor for the panda. i had one custom made for my 100 hp. the nearest you will get is an alfa-can bus adaptor. dont ask me who made it, my local ice dealer who arranged and fitted it wont give me the details of who did it.... (n)

I doubt that any Din unit will be able to play from an SD card because then you would be playing the movie in AVI format which i was under the impression that you need to install software on a computer to view these compressed files
For £500 you could get a carputer.

tell me more ....

So can a movie be played from a copied disc from a pc (cough cough). ? Or does it always have to be a proper dvd, i have no proper dvds anymore! Do'h

In terms of the steering controls this is where i need a canbus adaptor?

Do you have a links to sites that specialise in this sort of thing, or any dealers in the Bournemouth/Southampton area?

cheers again, you have been useful so far :worship:

to use the steering wheel controls you need a can-bus adaptor. in the 100 hp if you remove the factory fitted head unit you loose the blue tooth. it only works with the original head unit. (y)

There is not a Stalk Adaptor for the Panda unless they have released one recently.
Connects2 will be the people to talk to if you do want one.

I honestly dont know about copied DVD's i will find out for you.

yup copied DVD's work in my JVC unit, mine doesn't have a sd card slot though as i've had mine for about 4 years.

mine has been in so many cars in that time and running rear monitors too.

i highly recommend JVC, i've never had a bad one or one to go faulty with age unlike the sony's, kewood's and the like. maybe that was just luck though.

i didn't use the steering wheel controls anyway so didn't bother me to loose the use of them.

if you look on ebay there are no end of double dinn DVD players that have TV and IPOD conections for under £200 which to me seems a bargin, don't know how long they would last though.:)
