OK so today i finally fitted my headunit, its the clarion DXZ588RUSB and its working fine, but it doesn't turn on and off with the ignition. I know there are loads of posts on this but i still wasn't clear so sorry about another one. What do i need to do to make it turn on and off with the iginition? Any pics would be a great help aswell.

You need to splice off of the Ignition wire which is under the cover of the steering column and then connect that to the yellow wire on your HU.

ok, if i keep the faceplate removed for now will the battery be alright or shud i totally disconnect the unit for now?

it will be ok if the facia is removed and dependant on the car the fuse box will be an ok place to take a power supply from up to the red wire on the radio's loom(y)

Thanks, i just went and had it sorted at the local audio shop. The fitted it witha fuse aswell and only charged £15.

I was dreading waking up to a flat battery one day so i just didn't want to wait till the weekend when i have time to mess about with my car :D

Surely tapping off the fuse box is just adding another permanant live in the fiat needs an ignition feed so splice off of the Ignition or for more of a bodge off the Cigar lighter.

I cant see what adding a fuse can do it isnt stopping any flow of power so your battery will still drain.

Yea they took it off the ignition feed. Sorry didnt really make it clear. They ust added a fuse to that to protect it just incase anything went wrong i guess. But its working and not draining my battery so its all sorted:)

the fuse box has got ingnition feeds as well and they will be fused aswell unlike the bottom of the ingnition barrel as quoted by some one else (y)

I thought that the only ignition feed from the fuse box was for things like Cigar lighters which arent designed for the kind of power draw of additional equipment.

tbh i don't know, they just did it. I think they just added a fuse into the wire off the ignition feed. But it works so i guess whatever they did is fine.:D
