Hi all, i stumbled across this forum while googling around and this place looks great for fiat owners such as myself, so im glad to become a member of this site :)

Anyways, I have a new shape fiat panda (2005/06 model) which is the 1.1 active and im getting a DAB radio head unit for it. I need to fit a DAB aerial and for me nothing but the best will do, hence the need for an external mounting aerial to replace the current one.

Can anybody tell me the process of removing the original aerial, including the feeding of the cable and access the the routing of the cable as well as the process of fitting a new aerial and feeding this cable through the roof and body work?

Is it a difficult process?

Thanks in advance (y)

Hi welcome to the forum
I think that you may get a better answer in the panda section.

I dont think you have to replace any wires that run from the Aerial to HU at all, you just pop off the Aerial put the new one in and then plug in the DAB box which will go inline with the aerial wire that plugs into the HU plug that into the new stereo and thats the aerial done.
Are you ok with the rest of the wiring.

Pop over and say hello to the panda boys/girls they should be able to give you some tips for the Roof aerial removal.(y)

There was something i heard about the cable to the DB ariels being different to standard ariels, i dunno where i heard it but im sure someone told me that digital ariels had fibre optic cable? Maybe someone was just bs'ing me :p

ill go head to the panda section and copy my post, see if any of the lads/ess have pulled their cables from the panda yet :D

Cheers!

they wont have a fibre optic cable. it will be standard coax
Actually i remember where i heard it now, it was from a (dun dun durrrn) sales person at charley browns!
He also told me that it would take 2 people to fit it and take around 3 hours, but would cap the labour cost to £90 quid!!

Yeah, think ill be ignoring that advice :p
