Hi ive just finished wiring my new amp and sub today and tried to put in my Sony head Unit into my 07 Grande Punto, However there was no power , ( am i right in saying ive to switch the red and yellow wires from the new blocks ISO ) . Also i am very worried incase the headunit and new amp etc will drain the battery is there a way to have the amp, sub and head unit to come on and off with the ignition ?? If so can you guys poib tme in the right direction:rolleyes:

Sorry if been asked before, i couldnt find a topic

The amp should only come on when the stereo is on. Use the remote (Aerial) output from the headunit to switch the amp on. You can wire the headunit a number of different ways. Usually it is best to wire it to a permanent and switched live. Check your headunit wiring instructions to see which is which.

its an old head unit i dont have manual, what shall i do with the set up? how exactly do i do the yellow red wire thing, once i do that will that mean the amp should only come on with the head unit ? im asking this because when i locked the car the amp was still on even when car was locked and keys were out, bear in mind head unit wasnt installed as of then.

Usually the red is ignition live, yellow permanent live and the remote wire is blue and white. However it is always better to check the manual.... Try looking online for your headunit, you might find a wiring diagram. The amp should have a live, earth and remote input. It's the remote input which 'switches' the amp on, so this needs to be a switched live either from the headunit or the ignition.

Hope this helps!

so i plug the blue ( remote) into a Live 12V.. but not permanent.. also the actual head unit how do i actually get this to go on with key and ignition...

The blue and white wire which comes OUT the back of your head unit needs connected to the 'remote' terminal on your amp. If the amp is in the boot you will obviously need a long length of wire to do this but as it only carries a small current it does not need to be very thick. The red and yellow input wires on your headunit need connected to the switched (Ignition) live and permanent live respectively. If all is correct the headunit should only come on when the ignition is switched on and the amp should only come on when the headunit is on.

Thanks mate i will defo give this a try tomorow... Much appreciated.. . The switched ignition is usually what colour?

On the headunit it is usually the red wire. On the car I'm not sure you may need a multimeter or test lamp to see which is which.

sorry about all of this im still confused haha. My remote lead will go to the blue and white lead from head Unit. The yellow and red leads from head unit go into the switched ( Ignition) wire. What goes to the permanent wire
