My wife bought a 2002 16v Punto Sporting yeaterday and today we loaded up the 5 disc multi player, which worked fine.

I took the car out, didn't like CD 1 so changed to CD 2 by pressing button beside it and it played, it was Jack Johnson so naturally I pressed the button by 3 and nothing happened.

Now when I switch it on it says something like checking CD, then CD3 track 1 then loading CD. It then does nothing.

Radio and tape player are fine.

I've looked in the instruction manual which is either vague or refers to a different CD player.

Any advice please?

I can't eject any of the cds, I presume you do this by pressing the button on the right hand side?

That's what I meant, I can't get the cds out of the multi-changer unit.

As I've never had or used a multi changer before and the hand book doesn't refer to removing the cds, I'm a bit in the dark as how to extricate them.

The obvious route seemed to be pressing the button beside each slot but nothing happens.

How else can I retrieve them?

Just read your post again, this version (unless I'm being thick) has five seperate slots in it, rather than a removable magazine.

Ok, I was giving general advice, and had assumed that it had a magazine.

Are there any little holes like a bog standard CD player has for emergency ejection ?

Will it eject if you have the ignition on / motor running ?

They weren't obvious, but I'll take a look as I go out in the car in the next few minutes.

I'm guessing there must be some emergancy option similar to computer zip drives etc.

thanks

Terry

I do have the manual but to be honest it's not a lot of help as the head unit it describes is a self contained cd player and it only gives a passing mention to the 5 cd multi changer.

Hiya,
Its a common fault for them to jam....

Have one myself it happened a few months ago.

Firsty check to see if all 5 lights are flashing on the changer this means it cannot load or has another fault. (many people have also experienced flat batteries a few days later, i think its due to maybe the faulty changer not completely powing off?)

I pop'd mine out with some BBQ skewers then unpluged it, when under a light you can remove all the CD's with two bread knives even the one thats stuck in the far back of it which was tryng to load (i removed mine to do it but if your good a figgly stuff keep it in)

Then plug it back in and let it try and load an invisible CD then set it self back (i help'd mine reload by giving the side of the console a slap as it made the reload noise), mine broke when i tried loading slot 5 and i pressed 4+5 at the same time so now slot 5 is a no'no on mine.

But their was a guy on here that open'd his and un jamed/reset the arms or wotever they are inside, which ill be looking to do when i find the time.

if you serach this ice thread you'll find a few posts on it, most people fix managed to fix them but their is a few that were buggered.
