Will 6" speaker fit in Tipo front door?

Hi, I have a '89 Tipo and want some more bass in the front from my stereo by installing a pair of 6" speakers.
I've pulled off the interior trim on the front doors to have a look and it looks like a 4" speaker would be the biggest speaker that would fit. Theres a bolted on steel plate preventing anything bigger fitting in. Has anyone tried cutting this plate (obviously there to give the door more strength) to fit in a bigger speaker?

don't own a tipo mate, but 6" wont go in i am pretty sure you would have to build some kind of houseing. when this is done tho the silber plate would be removed.. so you have nothinbg to lose by removing it and having a look av ya!
