Hi,
I've been planning to change my ICE for ages and this morning I finally got everything wired up but I didn't get the result I expected. Here's what I did.
I have a Sony head unit with a pair of aux out RCAs. One pair's for input I think so is unused. The pair I'm using has leads (red and white) going from here into my amp's RCAs (channel 1 input and channel 2 input).
The amp's set to 2 channel rather than 3 or 4.
From the amp I have channel 1 + and - going to my left crossover unit's input + and -. From the crossover I have attached the left side tweeters and woofers.
Also from the amp I have channel 2 + and - going to my right crossover unit's input + and -. From the crossover I have attached the right side tweeters and woofers.
So far so good, that's the way it should be set up right? When I play music with it set up like this all of the music is coming through both right and left speakers but it's in mono I think. What I mean is I'm getting all of the music and it's equally coming out of both speakers. When I go onto the head unit's controls and play with the balance it has no effect whatsoever - I can set it to all the way left or all the way right and I still get the same levels coming out of both speakers.
Is this a common mistake I've made? Anyone have any ideas where I might have gone wrong? Ways to diagnose the problem?
Many thanks
