My radio's gone all moody on me and has suddenly just asked for its code, which of course I've no idea as the car is second hand. If I remove the unit, will the code be somewhere visible?
Thanks Ben

You might get lucky.

When the same thing happened to the radio on my Marea I took it out and some kind previous owner had felt tipped the code on the unit.

Also if you have any books with it (service book, radio guide) try them. I've bought cars previously where the code had been written in them by potentially forgetful owners.

If you bought the car from a main dealer as one of their trade-ins, they might be kind & sort the code out for you.
OH had a similar problem with an astra's radio - only 3 years old but it turned out that the radio had already had four new codes (it showed up on their machine (apparently)). They reset it back to original & gave us a copy of the number to write in the radio handbook.
A couple of years later, with another astra, the radio went funny after a change of battery, she took it to a local auto electrician. They asked her for proof of ownership & sorted it for a fiver.
Personally, if this is a standard fiat radio, I'd ditch it & go to halfrauds to see what's on offer.

Depends on what terms you are on with local dealer;)

Otherwise normally a nominal £10-15 fee

Is there any way I can get the philips code on a 1998 punto free? Ive been on the net but those that say free charge!
Thanks for any reply
