Hiya,

I have just bought a punto with an after market (JVC) head unit in. The problem I am have is that everytime I turn the ignition off the unit is still playing. I have to manually turn it off or take the front off to shut it up! Is there a way i can get it to turn off how it should?? My fella has had the unit and all the wiring out but we just can't seem to get it to work :bang:

Also, i have a factory fitted sub in the boot that i would like to get working again. Who ever had the car before me didn't hook it up to the aftermarket stereo. I'd be dead grateful of any info :worship:

Cheers

That's what I did when my HU wouldn't turn off. My wasn't a facia removable so I had to remove the HU every time I connected it!
Now it turns off and also has the remote power to hold the radio stations etc.

Hook the ignition wire on the stereo to a power supply in the car that is only on with ignition. I.e. dash switch or electric window switch etc.

This way the ignition switch takes a feed when the ignition is on, then allowing the main connection to the power to activate, and vice versa on ignition off.

or remove faceplate which you should be doing for security reasons anyway;)

Thats what i do, not having it wired to the ignition means i never forget to remove it. Its almost a useful feature

Ignition switch itself is best bet (orange wire)

Electric window switch worked well enough for me. It was the thicker brown/white I used, the thinner brown cable was for the LED (5v?). Um, I could take some clearer pictures if you want.
Have you got a haynes? In there it tells you what is run from the ignition.
From what I remember the cig lighter was no good.

and if you have problems with windows and (or) stereo in the future it makes it more awkward to diagnose the problem.,
as above, the ignition is the best place to tap in.,
