How To...
Remove the Radio Unit
Unscrew and Remove Ashtray/Trim panel below the heater controls.
you should now be able to see 3 tabs that clip the front panel onto the white plastic body of the heater controls. there is also 2 of these tabs underneath. Gently unclip the 3 tabs from the top with your flat head screwdriver whilst gently pulling the top edge away from the body. now unclip the 2 tabs from underneath and your trim panel should be free.
take hold of each one of the dials and pull firmly off the shafts
you will see that the heat dial and fan position dial have a star shaped shaft and a corresponding cut out on the dial so that the dial goes back on the same way it came off
the speed control has a little metal tab in the dial to lock it in on the shaft and for correct orientation
you should now be able to loacate a small brass coloured screw between the fan speed and heat control dial shafts that is holding the transparent light transmission laticework in place.
remove the screw and remove the latticework
now unscrew both brass coloured screws from the rotary switch, note the 2 little locating pins above the screws.
pull the rotary switch out and disconnect the multiplug by disengaging the locking clip.
in my case there was evidence of the switch getting far too hot at some point which i can only attribute to an interrnal fault with the switch.
now take your new switch and fit in the reverse of removal. theres no need to over tighten any of the little screws, remember theyre only going into plastic. just tighten them down so that the components dont move or shift around.
when refitting the trim make sure that the fan speed dial sits correctly. you may need to pull it ever so slightly back out to make it look right (you *MAY* neet to remove the trim again to do this, be carefull not to snap the tabs). The heat control and the fan position dials should be ok.
