Fit poly engine mount insert

Here we are going to fit a strongflex poly engine mount insert, this is the front of the gearbox one on a cinq sporting, other models may be different

Tools required:
13mm spanner/socket
17mm spanner/socket
socket extensions
bench vice
pry bar
Ramps
Jack

What is being fitted:

Start by putting the car on ramps and chocking the rear wheels, make sure handbrake is on and you are confident that the car is safe to go underneath

Take the weight of the gearbox end of the engine/box with the jack, may need to use some wooden blocks etc to gain height

Here is the mount that we are going to do pictured from above, at this point it was partly undone as I forgot to bring my camera out:

From underneath, undo the 2 13mm bolts that hold the top part of the mount to the car body

Here is the whole mount assembly off the car

You can see the gap here that the insert will pack out
image004.jpg

Mount the top part in a vice, and undo the 17mm bolt on the bottom holding the gearbox part of the bracket to the mount
image005.jpg

When the bracket is off, there is a metal disc attached by a small pressing holding the disc to the inner part of the mount, put a rag over this disc then hit one side of it with a hammer, it will pop off
image006.jpg

You can see the little pressings here, a tip for refitting is to file or grind off the pressing so the disc just fits on it not pictured], the bolt will hold it in place upon refit
image007.jpg

Take it out of the vice and turn it over, clamp the outer part of the mount in the vice and undo the bolt in the top cup
image009.jpg

Here you can see the cup off, and that the inner mount is quite hollow

Fit the top part of the insert, then replace the cup and bolt it back up [not pictured]
image011.jpg

Here you can see the underside, put the bottom part of the insert on here [not pictured] followed by the disc and then the gearbox bracket
image012.jpg

Then the bolt [not pictured], dont tighten it fully as you may need to adjust the position on fitting back to the car
image013.jpg

At this point I had a battery fail on my camera, but the rest is simply bolting it back to the car

I bolted the bottom part to the gearbox first, then used a pry bar to move the engine slightly to get the top mount bolts in, you may need to adjust the jack position firstly to give some room, then secondly to push up back into position

Once fitted I found the whole mount assembly upon driving the car to be very tough, I dotn think the red [and softer] version of the insert will be any different.

Overall an easy job which took approx hour and a half..

Thanks for looking :)
