This is a great start to removing the seat cloth upholstery. Rips and tears are far more easily repaired with the cover taken off the seat. You might(?) even be able to take patterns to have new covers made.

Thanks for the reference to that little latch under the seat mounting bracket. It saved me from having to dig too deep to figure out how to wriggle the seat out.
