Hi Guys & Girls:),

For some time now i have been interested in fitting a Silicone Coolant hose kit....NOT AIR OR OIL.....just the coolant hoses on my 98 Fiat Cinquecento Fire Sporting 1108cc:cool:, but believe it or not there is no kit on the market for this engine or car!:(,

Below is an image of the hoses in Question that i would like in silicone from Viper Performance.........http://www.viperperformance.co.uk/index.php

Now, a kit like this can cost anything from £70-£250+, but because Viper Performance have no tooling kit to make this hose kit a tooling kit alone would cost £2000+ to develop, and for Viper Performance to break even they would need 15 members to be committed!, but like any business there not in it to break even, there in it to make a profit:),

So after speaking to Dan from the Sales Department this morning the 25th May 2012 to get a good group buy discount we would need 20+ members to be interested and committed from the development stage until its completed,

Now from the day they receive My Coolant Hoses it would take anything from 6-7 weeks for Viper Performance to produce the tooling kit and send me out the first prototype for testing before they would then make and send the other ordered kits out individually to the other members,he did say that the p&p would be at cost,

There is still no price on this kit simply because at this stage we need to see just how many members would be committed in following this through from start to finish, like i said it can take from between 6-7 weeks from the day he has my hoses to start development till you have yours,

So the more members we get interested and committed the cheaper the price will be......(y)

I'm adding my name on the assumption that it comes in under £200, any more than that and I'm out.

Hi,

I can't see it being over that to be honest :),but like i said the more members we get involved and committed the lower the price will be,

I have since contacted Dan from Viper Performance and asked him if you could take a look at this thread and feel free to add to it,

Cheers Don

Hi,

Dan from Viper Performance has since contacted me after taking a looking at the pic i posted and has said it may well not be viable:(, as its quite a complex hose making the cost per head far to expensive!,i have since contacted Dan with regards to cost per head, i'll keep you updated but iam afraid its not looking good!,

Cheers Don

Or even making just one of the pipe :)?

The one from thermostat to radiator?

Ming

Hi Ming,

I would want them all to be honest,i think the best way forward for me is to make up my own kit using there alloy connectors and sections of silicone hoses,i know for sure i could do it as ive been here before:).....and with good results,

I have since had another email from Dan even though he thinks its not viable but to be sure he would rather have the hoses in front of him so he could run it by the tooling department to see if its going to worth it,

To be honest, i think this is my Q to say its a no go:( ,there's no point in continuing if the costs are going to be far to expensive due to the pipe work being complex making the tooling very expensive to produce!,

I don't normally get involved in threads like this and to be honest i wish i hadn't:eek::),Sorry,

Cheers Don

To be fair though Don, you've saved me a bit of a headache as I was going to look into this in a couple of months time so appreciate the effort you've put in anyway :)

Thank You:),

That makes two of use:),iam going to start buying the Custum bends joints and straight silicone sections in all sizes as the weeks go on and if i get my way?,i hope to have it completed for the Scottish Italian Car & Bike Show in August at Hoptoun House?,failing that it will be finished for the car being garaged for the winter around October,

By all means feel free to contact Dan at Viper Performance Sales but unless he can reduce the tooling costs to prepare the hose kit making it affordable...... go for it,but like i and Dan were saying its looking very like its not going to be a viable option,

Cheers Don

Sfs will do a group buy on custom stuff, worth contacting them?

I'm out on this as I have no heater matrix and I don't have a clue where the expansion tank will be. And I've got a red top rad hose:p

I don't normally post on here much now, but samco said they would have a look at a hose kit off a car, but from the ones they have seen on my cento they said that it would be around £300 per kit (depending on the amount of heads interested), and it wouldn't be a simple kit either. Would be hoses sleeved with alloy joiners etc to make their lives easier.

Alternative they said that if we can chip in for the tooling (or get them made for them) then that would bring the cost of the kits down, but then the issue would be finding a "holder" for the tools.

Thanks

Other option would be to find someone that could make the main 'adapter' as such (the 4 pipe joiner) and then have the custom hoses made up around that?? Either that or see if we can get hold of the bloke from gsr and see how he made them, my guess is we would be waiting a lot longer than 7 weeks for it though

I'd be interested, let's give this thread a chamce and see who would be interested?? There may be more after the hoses than you realise

Don't get my wrong Iam still interested:),but like i said and Dan from Viper said its the tooling that's going to cost the best part of 2000+ to develop and Dan thinks its not viable at this early stage,

What are the polish cento people using? No way they are all still on standard hoses?

Interesting? we need to ask them:D,off you chop:p

~Ming

Gsr used to make the top rad hose. What happened to that business?

Mmmh???,i don't have a clue, that said Dan from Viper in all the years he has worked there in sales has never been asked for the Fire kit which i find very hard to believe but it must be true,

This is exactly why Dan from Viper thinks its not a viable option because the tooling would be to expensive to have made leaving us as group buy paying way over the odds per head,

To be honest Iam just going to be buying there flexihoses in the sizes i need and using the alloy sleeves and custom build my own,it will no way work out cheap but it sure does seem the easiest route for me to take

Feel free to keep this thread running to see what interest is generates but like i said i know what Iam doing so Iam out....:eek:sorry,

Yes, Polish Cento club is large, but then, I am afraid, people with big enough budgets go on with mad engine conversions, they do like silicone stuff, but a standard kit would not cut it for them. Perhaps there are 2-3 folks that run an almost standard 1.2 MPI high budget projects, but that's it. I can always post a link to this thread in PL, will see what happens, but I would not expect much.

Myself, I would be interested, but then two issues for me, again standard kit not good for me, and I don't think my car will live long enough for this investment to be worth it for me :(

Hi woj,

That would be great!,any feedback would help:cool:,

I totaly understand what your saying and unless you are committed to looking after the car for the long term its hard to part with lots of hard earned cash for the car to be sitting in the breakers yard in a year or two because you can't justify the running costs to keep it road worthy,

You see iam in it for the long term, this car is garaged for 6 Months of the year if not more:eek:,so i can justify spending what ive already spent and what ive still to spend, so a kit is very very high on the list of things to do,

This is the other problem!....there seems to be interest in a kit but most cars seem to be custom built so a standard kit will not fit all,its already going to be very expensive to make a tool for a standard kit never mind another..........see you high booooooooost boys......always have to be differant:D,

Cheers Don
