I have looked everywhere for a realistic replacement for the bob plenum.

Knowing that the 899bob is very restrictive, i have been looking into other options.

One of the things i am considering is having a batch made as a silicone hose with a much larger diameter exit pipe.

If you are interested, (price to be confirmed) then drop your name below.

Adam :)

They will be like the bob but taller and a 50mm exit pipe. It will be made from 3 ply silicone.

Design has just been filed as a registered design to protect it from copying.

They will fix to the standard throttlebody without any hassle.

Once i have a sample made, i will post pics.

Ive made a few stainless ones with 2" inlets

With the larger exit, i guess the normal GSR kit will not fit into the new bob ?

Thanks

The GSR kit is an improvement over the standard setup, however IMO it is far from perfect.

A 3inch wide pipe running the full length of your induction kit is way way too big for the airflow of the car. My old alfa v6 had a 3inch induction and we tuned its length to give great power, however that was a 2.5 V6 with 280hp!

Working on half the area of a 3inch pipe, workings shown below....

76mm (3in) pipe has an internal area of 45cm2

50mm (2in) pipe has an internal area of 20cm2

50mm pipe should (again IMO) be run for the majority of the pipework. There will then need to be a taper to go from 76mm (filter) to 50mm (Induction)

Sooooo......

In answer to your question, no the GSR wont fit, but it is costing you potential power anyway. However, the tapered part wil be perfect to go between your filter and the correct size of induction for the car.

Another point on induction that i think is worth mentioning.....

We all know that our prized engines like cold air. Right?

We also know that when air moves faster, it gets colder. Right?

Therefore with an induction system that has half the internal capacity, the air will be travelling at twice the speed. Giving colder, denser air. Right?

This obviously has limitations, so dont try making your induction kit out of cup drink drinking straws!

Dyno results will show the improvement. The other thing to bear in mind is that 50mm silicone pipework is far cheaper and much easier to run. Personally, i will be using aluminium tubes and silicone joiners.

Photos will of course be up as soon as sample has landed!

Right thanks for the explanation. Another question.

IS this group buy just for the improved bob and we have to make our own kit ?

Or you got a price for another induction kit ?

For me i be much more interested in buy the induction kit than just the better bob.

thanks

Add around £20 for the pipework allowing for butchering of GSR kit to make your 2inch to filter adapter.

Induction noise will be much much better!

so £65 for a improved bob and moding the GSR pipe ?

And this will fit onto the original cone filteR?

Correct me if i am wrong :D This starts to get very itneresting :)

Be good to try this out, think we got a RR day in Jan with fiat-scotland :D and i already done one with the orginial GSr.

Thanks

Your original cone filter currently fits onto the wide part of your GSR? So if you are using the wide bit, it will still fit!

I will be running the induction kit on my local dyno with some back to back tests.

I will be running (and comparing):

With No Filter / Normal Cone Filter / New Secret Filter (Oooooooo!!!)

With Bob and with new Uncle Bob!!!!!
Different lengths of induction pipe.

From past exerience, i think there will be gains with my new magical mystery filters ontop of everything else!!!!!!!!

++++++ PRESS RELEASE ++++++

My new induction kit is officially called the Uncle Bob!

"Like bob, but bigger and more experienced"

Other thought was "The Italian Horn" but decided that i didnt want an Italian Horn anywhere near me or my car!!!!!
