hi guys
i've had my 1.4 active sport since january - bought it with 13000 miles on the clock
am having terrrible bother with the horn which more often than not doesn't toot when i press it
have had it looked at in 2 separate dealerships who say it's a common problem with the grande punto, and you just have to make sure you hit the horn dead centre
but i don;t think this is good enough and really it's a safety issue if you can't beep someone who doesn't see you
anyone else having this bother
what do you suggest?

THe ONLY place mine works is at the bottom of the steering wheel just below the lettering 'airbag'.......it always works......anywhere else and you have to press real hard and then most of the time it doesn't work.
I agree, it is of a very bad design.

I don't use my horn.. I just have the window down and yell my head off.. (sorry I know its not constructive but just had to share it out loud :D)

People you're forgetting that Fiat is an italian company...if they built it with a horn that operated at the tiniest push then those Italians would wear it out in about 5 mintues of getting the car!!!!

And the Spanish too. Just got back from Madrid, I swear their horns are directly connected to the brake pedals as everytime they stop they beep their horns!!! Didn't see many GP's though.

p.s. avoid Madrid taxi rides unless you wish to die!!!!

Very funny........!
suprised that there aren't so many G. Punto's in Spain....wonder why....could be marketing, Seat obviously being dominant there.....??

thanks for you replies
the heater has to get replaced - another long story - so when it's in i'll speak to the salesman and ask them to look again and not be fobbed off with 'oh it's common to the car' rubbish
cheers
claire

Most dealers have a Dealer Expert Technician, part of his/her job is to sort out 'problem' cars, liason with the Fiat tech helpline & reassure the customer that everything is being done to sort out the problem.

Oh & know abit more about the cars than a salesman does;)

I had the exact same problem with my horn. If I seen a mate or a girl with a nice rack walking down the street, I would reach for the horn but nothing happens? I practically had to take a running jump at it to get it to work. I told my dealer on 3 separate occasions that this was not right and that it's an important safety feature. Eventually they sorted out the wiring and it works perfect. Don't let them tell you it's notmal cos it's not!!!!
