Hi,has anybody had any trouble with the rear brakes on the sporting multijets? It only happens when you brake when in reverse, its not a squealing sound, more of a groaning sound, which is very loud, does anybody have any ideas?

yep take it to fiat mine is going in 2moz for new pads with the same sound this is known fault and new pads have been released to fix it

i went to fiat 2 weeks ago to get my brakes checked for the moan sound and the mechanic didnt do anything to them apart from clean them (which hasnt made any difference) but he said there are some modifications to the rear pads "in the pipework" everyone else seems to be getting new pads, why couldnt he sort mine out...

Also i mentioned that part number T14086 gave for the modified front brake pads, apparently there was no such thing but when they typed it into the computer it came up saying they had one in stock. it was quite funny.

well i have had mine done today they fitted the new pads and they are now worse than when i took them in groans when going forwards as well now not sure if the may take time to bed in any ideas ???

when i got mine done it didnt make a lot of diference but the car has now done 5600 miles ad the problem has almost gone completely, ive had a feint noise once in the last week

well after testing mine 2day as much as i can they now dont seem to be moaning in reverse but they now do when going forward a problem i did not have before i took it in

I had the same problem with the 'whale' brake sound when braking lightly going forward.
I didn't take the car back to the dealership however the problem has now completley gone (I have done 2000 miles)
Have a bit of patience it will sort itself out :)

I had exactly the same noise when reversing. My dealer said that brakes weren't covered by warranty after 3,000 miles, but saying that they did something to them as I haven't had any noise since then (that was about 6 weeks ago now).

Brakes again (but not squealing!)

Hi guys, this is my first post. Great forum! I've just picked up a 56 reg GP 1.4i Sporting in Exotica red. It's an ex demo model registered in Oct 2006 and had 170 miles on the clock. I bought it from Brindley Fiat in Wolverhampton as it was only £8,999 and I needed a car quick.

Just 2 small problems... first of all the front brakes are making a noise. Not squealing as is mentioned on here over and over again, but a low pitched rumbly/grinding noise. Is this because its stil new? If the pads need replacing, do I have to take it do the original dealer in Wolverhampton, or can I take it to my local dealer in Brighton?

Secondly, my brand new Samsung MP3 player isn't recognised by the system. However, my cheap 4 year old Actron MP3 player works!!! How can this be? So much for progress on the technology front! As samsung phones don't work properly with Blue&Me either, are Samsung missing out on a big trick here?

Anyway, that aside i'm really pleased with what i've got for £9k. I drove around town yesterday and everybody was looking at me. The red certainly stands out!

By the way, how are you guys getting on with the silver circles on the seats? Are they just painted rubber because they don't look as if they will stay silver for more than 5 minutes with me getting in and out all the time! Anybody tell me how they are getting on with these?
