After heavy rain when i open the boot lid, water pours out of the right or left hand rubber grommet, as if water is getting in the skin of the boor lid? Has anyone heard/experienced/know about this fault? Email me please if you can help. Cheers!

Many thanks T14086! I'll take it back to the dealer. Have you any more info on this problem so i can at least go armed with some information, plus it would be nice to know a bit more about how the water gets in etc?
Cheers!

I opened my GP's boot the other day and a load of water piddled onto the parcel shelf. I'm wondering if I've got the same or similar fault........:yum:

Is it an easy fix?(y)

Hi
had exactly the same problem, Water on the parcel shelf.
Its coming in through the window washer housing.
This is for sure a dealer/waranty problem, but for 10 mins just push the nozzle out and put a bit of silicone sealant under before replacing.

Thanks for the replies. Think your right bobanreg, just taken a look and the Third Brake Light/Rear Washer and it seems a logical place where the water is getting in as it's not sealed. As ive gotta go back to the dealer anyhow's, i'll get them to fix it for me.

I'll feed back the results as it may benefit anyone else who's having the same prob. Cheers all!

are all gp's fitted with a rear window washer?? i do not seem to have one on my 1.2 active.

i dont think it is a legal requirement in the uk to have a rear windscreen wiper, i know when mine was broken on my old punto it did not fail the mot for it.

well if i do have one i cant seem to work it? is it dne in tangent with the front washer? i have looked at the manual and everything i js cnt do it??

Hi All, I have had this problem the water was getting in through the wiper grommet, it also stuffed the switch for the interior boot light. The water appeared on the parcel shelf and in the catch area as well as in the seal at the bottom of the boot. All sorted now.
Common fault?

Look on the back of the car - a wiper is there or it ain't!
To operate it push the right hand wiper leaver away from you and hold it there.....water will squirt from the top of the rear window and the wiper will wipe.
To turn it on manually twist the inner collar on the wiper stalk.

In response to Fiat House you say that it's all sorted now, can you tell us how you got it sorted please. Also you say that water was getting in through the wiper grommet, which is different to what bobanreg said which was that it was comming in through the third brake light/washer. Maybe there's more than one problem here?? Let's hope not!

Anyway's, i got on to my dealer and told them the problem im having (see original post) and im booking it in to have the Fiat Service Specialist have a look at it.

As Fiat House said, common fault for GP?

The fix on mine was a new seal around the wiper shaft on the boot lid, and a new light switch assembly due to water damage, 2 days in the workshop all covered by warranty.

Thanks Fiat House i'll feed that back to the guy thats gonna be looking at mine and hopefully i'll get mine resolved too. Cheers.

Looking at my hatch/boot lid - it appears to have drain holes at the bottom edge as though water is meant to pass through the inner skin and drain through the holes - much like the side doors ! Bit bizarre if it does !!!

Got my car back from the Fiat Garage today and this is what they said. There are two rubber grommets, at the bottom and either side of the boot lid. They are designed as drain holes, also there are two holes towards the middle of the boot lid as well...also drain holes. I was told that the boot lid is made of two pieces of metal shaped and welded together. If this seam of the weld is not quite water tight then water could get in and run in to the skin of the boot and out of the drain holes. Sounds odd to me but there you go! Also, they wasn't sure if water could be getting in to the third rear brake light as it dosent seem to have a seal around it. Fiat put some sealent around the edge of the third brake light and put it back in place. (Great! So what happens when i wanna get if off and change the bulb???) Hasn't rained or haven't had a chance yet to test if this has fixed the problem or not. SO...all in all i conclude that Fiat have no idea what the deal is. ALSO they seem to have no idea where the water could be getting in....despite having the car all day today to find that out! Now, ive had plenty of diferent models and makes of cars and this is the first one to have water get in to the skin of the vehicle and piff out of the corners of the boot lid when you open the boot. Stand in the wrong place and you get a steady stream of water over you!! Now either there is a genuine problem and this is not supposed to happen and the grommets are not drain holes OR this is supposed to happen (As fiat tell me...truth or not??) and the car is designed to piff all over the owner when opening the boot after a light rain fall...could Fiat REALY have designed a car this way?!?!?:bang:
