1. When the car is stationery and I turn the steering wheel from side to side, it makes a clicking sort of noise. If I turn, it really slowly and press down on it very very slightly, it makes a sort of a creaking noise. What could this be?

2. When I drive very slowly over cobbles, for example, or an uneven road, there is a very slight knocking noise - could this be the steering rack?. Could this problem be related to problem detailed above?

3. Sometimes when I turn left round a corner, particularly over a speed hump outside my house, there is a sort of creaking/knocking noise from the left side of the car, I can't determine if its from the front, middle or back. Could this just be tension as the car is turning?

Other than that, I love it...!

Thanks.

Pretty sure 1&2 is steering rack. For 3 I also got a creak in my sporting when going over a steep bump or cornering fast ended up being a loose bit of trim I think either way didn't take long to fix :).

1&2 is the same as i have on the wifes, and its booked in with tha garage this weds for an inspection, i will tell you how i get on, ps someone else on here had the same and his needed a new steering rack

pps how old is yours ?

I have issue [1] (but not [2] or [3]) as well and the dealer said it was a loose nut/bolt somewhere in the steering (didn't say exactly where though). When I collected my car a few weeks ago it was apparently fixed, but no, it still makes that clicking noise. I'm not so sure if I have that much faith in my dealer anymore....

Mine is an 06 plate (registered March 06).

i had a similar problem to number 3 which turned out to be a loose wheel arch trim on the passenger side front wheel that was catching on the wheel when turning left and worst when reversing
