Hey ive just brought miself a new Fiat Punto Grande 1.2 8v Active in black love da car and always loved da puntos. Ive Got mi Fox alloys on it now and the sound system done and have a bita money left over to maybe make the performance a bit better. Im 18 so the 1.2 was all i could afford on insurance with a write in my driving history. Just wondering if any of ya have any tips on what to get. Was fancying getting an induction kit on it but thought i would ask u experts b4 i look at getting it done ;)

Cheers

Ill show a few pics of the car in a later post tell me what ya fink

Good choice for your first car!! Easily more stylish than anything else you can get for the money!

Have a look for posts by jamesgamby1989. He is in a similar situation to you so his threads and the answers within them may help you!

hello mate, i am in the same situation, ive partly done my sound system, working my way through my interior styling and will post some pictures for you soon. it all depends on whether you want performance or styling out of your car? i mean a nice exhaust would be a good touch not too big or loud but one with a sporty sound to it. what du think?

That sounds good m8. I dont really wanna touch anything with the interior i was thinking of a new exhaust system but i dont wanna be heard from miles away lol. Yea i wouldnt mind seeing a few pics of ya car sounds nicely done. I wouldnt mind putting money in to the performance now not to make it increase by loads because i know with a 1.2 i aint gonna get miracles but maybe just to make the acceleration a bit nicer and the sound a bit more roary but not over the top. What have you done to urs so far??

hello again i have got what it says in my signiture, i did have an exhaust system to begin with but wasn't too happy with it so i got it removed and the standard one fitted again. what insurance company you with? because i am finding it difficult to find one that will be of a decent price and allow modifications to it??

Get yourself a GSR induction kit PM a member called "Oldschool" for details, and a nice supersprint exhaust and a remap and you could be looking at another 15bhp but the driving experience will be a lot better there will be no / fewer flat spots and will be a lot more responsive.

Im with Direct Line. To be honest i wasnt thinking of even bothering with the insurance aslong as i dont put thousands of pounds in to doing it up with bodykits so on if i crash it i lose it. What was the exhaust system like? Too loud? Were abouts did u get these changes done for ya car or did u do em urself? and were ya get em from? What legal modifications are there without having to tell the insurance its just stupid things like head units aint it?

Cheers for that chris thats helped me out.

Well technically you should declare everything as any alteration means it isn't factory spec. Head units are something I would declare tbh as they normally cover them free and usually doesn't effect your premium if its stolen. I'd only declare easily noticeable things like the exhaust and no the supersprint systems are brilliant they are made in italy but you can get suppliers in the UK and they are not noisy just sporty :).

If you look on www.fastfiat.com and just give them a ring and tell them your car and what you would like and they will quote the price.

i am currently with direct line, and they will not insure me to have alloys on my car as i am under 19, have u not declared these i take it?
i see that it would be easy to change them, as my mate when someone crashed into him and wrote off his car he took his aftermarket alloys off and replaced them and th insurance din't know anything bout them. the exhaust sounded ok but was not suited for the car really was too loud and not deep enough for me.

jamesgamby and modos, how much are you paying for your insurance if you dont mind me asking, because im 18 with no no claims and have got the 1.9 sporting, its cheaper to insure than my 1.6 rover 200 was

my insurance is just under 1000 on the 1.2 active and that is me as the named driver.
