Blue&me not playing my MP3s. Can anyone help?

Hi. I just bought a 1.4 Dynamic with Blue&me and tried to get my MP3 player (Creative Zen Nano) to link up via the USB in the glove box. My mp3 player says it's connected in it's own screen, but I can't for the life of me find any option to actually play the music back from the car. My blue&me main menu consists of Phonebook, Settings, Advanced and Exit, no media player... so could it be a problem with the firmware in the blue&me kit?

Any suggestions would be very helpful...

Mine has worked for 2 weeks out of 6 months. Dealer says its "still being looked into by Fiat" - I feel ultimatum time is coming!!

Blue and me does not work with every media player, but all you have to do is connect the player and scroll through the sources, and your player will appear, to be honest a usb stick is by far a cheaper and simpler way of connecting mp3 tracks to the system.

Thanks for that NumanR. I'll give it a go with one of my plain old USB sticks and let you know how it goes.

Nope. I just tried a bog-standard 256MB USB stick and still no joy. It connects and the stick has power, but no media functions on the radio. I press source and it just cycles through radio bands and CD, and then says 'No Source Available'... Any ideas?

Presumably you don't have the 'Blue&Me' instruction book.
Mine has worked perfect everytime....here's what you do.
1 Make sure you load tracks onto the USB stick in Mp3 format.
2 Insert the usb stick into it's slot in the glovebox area
3 Start the car up
4 Push the 'Windows' button, bottom left, on the steering wheel
5 Say 'Play'
6 It will start playing a song
7 If it doesn't, sometimes it gets 'glitchy', push the 'Windows button' again and say 'Media Player'
8 The system will then give you options to say
9 Say 'Play' again.

If it doesn't work turn the car off and try disconnecting the battery under the bonnet via the quick release Negative clip and leave it off for 30 minutes.
Re-attach the Negative cable and try the above again....this 'Re-boots' all the computer systems.

As far as i can see there's only one USB port in the glove box. Yes I have no blue&me handbook, and there's no option in the menu for either 'play' or 'media player', so the voice commands don't work.

The way I see it, i've either got a version of blue&me that doesn't support the media player, or my firmware needs to be updated to install the media player.

Another thing i've noticed is that I don't have a 'windows key'. Where the windows key should be I have a key that has a little aerial symbol on it, which i press for activating the voice command mode.

Then I guess you don't have Blue&Me, but the old Convergence Bluetooth Kit, that doesn't support media playing functions.

Ahhhh now we're getting somewhere. so what's the USB port for then? just updating the firmware i guess.

Check out this topic. It was an early discussion about Blue&Me and the older Bluetooth phone kit. This might help you.

Thanks for that. I think your right. I have the convergence kit. Ahh well. I bought this car (0656, 1.4 Dynamic) as ex showroom demo with 3400 on the clock (absolute bargain), and i didn't know it had bluetooth until i got it, so it was a nice surprise anyway. Maybe if Fiat make it possible to upgrade to Blue&me later on i'll give it a go, but i'm not disappointed either way.

I just use either 1or 2mb USB sticks from Amazon, never a moments prob.
Only thing is that if the fly lead with Memory Stick is plugged in it always plays as the default from start up, no real trouble just cycle through the choices with the src button on the wheel.
Hav'nt tried text message reader yet, Nokia 6310i, salesman sent me the download, but don't get many texts so I have'nt bothered as yet.:slayer:

Your only option is to get an ipod.
You do not need blue&me to play IPOD mp3's
Fiat do an IPOD interface - the usb in the glove box will not work on early models or lower range models it is for dealer updates.
I have bought one of these from Fiat for my GP Sporting. - you should check with the dealer for your model before you buy though.
Part number is - 50901536 Approx £70
This then plugs into back of the radio and threads through to the small tray behind the ashtray. Then plugs in to an IPOD.
This will operate IPOD from the steering wheel controls or radio.
The setup is defaulted to run from playlists created with itunes.
Unfortunatly there is no holder for the IPOD with this kit it sits in the centre console tray.
This kit only works for IPODS -
hope this helps
regards
Shaun
