I have the sporting 1.416v it is a 56 plate and has blue me i use the usb port. I have had it for one week any ideas thx.

My iPod video didn't work with my Blue&Me annoyingly, but I have an idea it might be because its Mac formated, rather than PC formatted.

If your using a PC with iTunes it may work?!

My iPod will only play WMA or MP3 files through the media player - not Apple files.

It only has 1 but i am using the extension lead that they provide. I am using the ipod video it wont play it so do ipods work with or do they just charge like mine does. I am also using a windows pc for my ipod and itunes.

As Ben H rightly says the media player will only detect the .mp3 or .wma files from your ipod and not .m4a etc. If you imported all of your music from cds using the default itunes settings all of your music will be in the wrong format. I imagine this is why you are having difficulties. I do know of someone using an ipod video that works, cant remember whether its the 30gb or 60gb though.

If your songs arent in a supported format try downloading one that is and stick it on to find out if it solves the problem. If it doesnt then you know that it just wont work.

I was under the impression you should have 2 usb ports if you have blue&me....

As mine is an early sporting i got it before blue&me was introduced onto them, so mine has a different blue tooth system on the car. I have one usb port in the glove but all that will do is charge what ever is plugged into it....

From what i've read and seen though i thought you had 2 usb ports with blue&me....

Yeah, we've got 2 usb sockets.
One's for us to connect a usb flash drive/i-pod and is labelled with the 'windows' sticker and has a rubber bung.....the other's for nothing to do with us (service stuff).....pretty obvious.

As regards your i-pod.....you need to only load songs onto it in mp3 or wma...aac and the others are incompatible.

Make sure you are 'Importing' the songs into I-Tunes correctly.
Go into the I-Tunes 'preferences', go to the 'Importing' section and click on 'mp3'.....then load a music cd in the tray and "Import" the album/song.

OR if you just want to convert a song to the mp3/wma format......go into the I-Tunes preferences, go to 'Importing' and click on mp3/wma.
Close preferences and then go to the song that you want to convert.
Highlight that song and then right click on it.
There will be a 'label that says 'convert to mp3'
Click on this and I-Tunes will convert the song to mp3 format.
You will then have 2 of the same song, one in the original format and the other in mp3/wma format.
You will need to go into the I-Tunes main 'Music Library' to find it.

Personally, I strongly recommend a USB Flash Drive, you can get a 1GB for £14, 2GB for £25 on-line at kelkoo.co.uk, etc.
They definitely work ALL the time unlike I-Pods and other players that are notoriously glitchy, they don't need any power, they 'free up' your I-Pod and they allow you to download, store and install any future updates to Blue&Me like the latest one that gets it to 'Read' your 'Text' messages.....nifty eh.
Any other problems I suggest you swing by your dealer.....they've heard it all before!

It sounds like to me that you do not have b&m just the convergence kit. Plug the cable into ipod - select changer on radio - then remove cable from ipod & reinsert quickly - you should then be able to select songs using the ipod screen.
If you are trying to select songs using radio they will only select playlists - try selecting track 10. If this dont work you need to check that cable is connected to radio properly.

Please read his posts......he says he's got a '56 plate and it has Blue+Me!
People do get confused thinking they have B&M because the convergence kit also has a bluetooth system - the fact he has an ipod cable suggests he does not have B&M as the cable would not be required. he would just have to plug into the usb which on all the ones i have seen have 2 usb ports one for media player one for dealer diagnostics.

Liam2006 Please clarify that you have B&M.

Hi!
I have just bought a 1.9 Eleganza (still waiting for delivery) and have a Ipod video 60GB so after reading some posts about problems with the ipods and grandes i thought i would go down to the garage with my ipod and test it out!!
It worked fine, I have been told that the software in the cars is being upgraded all the time so if your ipod doesnt work you have to pop back to the garage and they should update software for you.
If you have what appears to be 2 usb in glovebox i beleive one is firewall connection.
Hope this helps all involved, if not i will try and be of further assistance!!
Good Luck!

Big Dave
