does anyone on here know the true ins and outs of this NCAP rating fiasco?
I have a customer who wont buy a car due to it been made public that the right hand drive version is only a 4* rating without the plate.
As far i as i am concerned this is all sorted and now they are back to the full score arent they?

does anyone know the chassis numbers that were recalled or anything?
I am in NZ and dont even think that the "non plate" version made it over here but need something to try and clarify this....

Any help is much appreciated!

This is all nonsense.....so just a small plate is worth 1 STAR??? I don't think there's any way it's gonna save one's life. Here in Malta the same happened, some cars don't have it and Fiat Malta are recalling them calling the thing a "Fiat Upgrade". If it was an airbag that was not fitted than the story would have been different but it's just a stupid small plate. Have to take mine for fitment soon, just doing it only for warranty purposes.

The NCAP test works on a points system which is converted into a %, In the independent test organised by WHICH UK The test dummy in the drivers seat suffered huge loading on the right knee due to the steering rack puncturing the shroud this dragged the % score down below the criteria for 5*

IIRC

:yeahthat: Thanks for the information Andy....also if your one of these drivers that have their knees apart style & seat foward it makes for a good codpiece ;)

Seriously though, its a 5 minute job & can save you from a possible serious injury:(

I was back in the UK and popped into my old workplace to see what the recall was all about and it really is a 5 minute job isnt it!
We had people here in NZ going ape as they had heard it was a major flaw in the design, gee's how to make a mountain out of a mole hill or what!
\Least i have now seen it first had.
thanks to al who replied! (y)

Fiat in NZ is a little slow but picking up.
After the days of the Uno the prices rose and people went off onto the jap cr@p but slowly they are returning. Taking some doing though selling the diesels, they still think bigger is better, plus diesel tax kills it (changing in 07 though)
We're just waiting for a whole new model line up to come out as at present all i have here is 4 models of GP and 2 models in Multipla! (n)

role on croma, Trepuino, Bravo and Panda i say!

Yeah i sold the Croma when it was first launched over there, we had it a year before i came here and i think we sold 1...

The roads here are ok, but like i said before a lot of people over here like bigger cars, stuff they can throw the kids in and all their junk and go off to the bach for the weekend. Something the croma would suit i reckon.

A lot of the influence is whether Oz decide to take the cars on aswell though so we never get anything confirmed until they say yes too, pain in the backside if you ask me!
that's what has stopped us getting the Panda before now, Oz not sure whether to take it too :bang:

Haha the company that i work for is ALWAYS bringing people across, that is how i ended up here.
have a look on the website, www.ccs.co.nz all job vacancies on there
good company to work for and the biggest in NZ! ;)

Oz are slowly taking more Fiats on, they have just relaunched the brand there with the GP. first Fiat's sold there in over 18 years! if they take off then more will follow.... or so the story goes! (y)

wouldnt have a clue what the tech's are on wages wise.
i know for me it is very comparable to my old UK job.
where did your mate work? was it for ccs? after all there are only 4 dealers in NZ for alfa/Fiat! haha

intrigued where he found the bugs etc.... :p

The intake of Fiats here are slow - I've only seen about 5 GPs in 3 months. People here are obsessed with the big 4 - Holden, Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi..

that isnt to good, although saying that, when we launched GP here it has taken a good 6 months before people are coming and buying them, you always get the initial person off the street to come in and look, then after a few months of people looking round at everything they come back and usually buy. it's a hell of a car for the money!

you should do a tour of Oz in your litle GP Luvduvs! show them what it's all about!
I hear there are going to be a couple of Sports doing some race series over there soon, that should raise the profile a bit!

haha yeah, and all the beer bellied POME's are invading, like me! :D

NZ is great, i've just been back to Yorkshire for a couple of weeks to visit family etc and i have to say, i wouldnt move back for anything. it actually depressed me seeing everyone doing the same old thing and complaining about the weather.

NZ is as laid back as you can be. I love it!!!
(plus it's now summer and you get New Years Eve pissed up on the beach ;) )

I have to say though it has been hotter than usual these last couple of years.. spiders I haven't seen many, but cockroaches yes!!

fiatdownunder: I'm going to drive around the south island early next year - hope the roads in NZ are fun!
