Hi, had an Alarm fitted to Punto Grande and Amber Light permantly on screen. No bulbs gone anywhere and Alarm Installer not interested. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

I'd have said dealer also

I'm sure i read somewhere (on here) that the cpu on the GP has a fail safe that if any non standard fiat items are wired into the car then the warning light shows until a dealership reset and authorise the item, i think the only exception to the rule is aftermarket stereos but with that there is no additional wiring just plug the old loom into the back. If the wiring of the alarm is invasive it will have to be checked and reset/authorised by a dealer.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks-Great reply. Looks as though Fiat could charge for inspection of new alarm and reset. My experienced Alarm installer should have known this. I know nothing about cars but a lot about computers. What if alarm is reset and at some stage, car battery goes flat, will I have to have my Fiat computer reset again? Even though money is short I'm wondering if I should have Alarm removed and a Fiat approved alarm installed as car is brand new. Excuse me, but I am just talking out loud. Will have to sleep on it. Thanks for reply.

Could be coincidence but if installer has broken into CAN wiring etc........you could have a hefty bill coming your way & parts of your warranty invalidated.

Are we talking engine light or bulb failure light?

yeah these newer car set ups really dont like weird voltages, drains etc they dont expect.
alarm installers need to know there stuff now, very easy ot cause big bills with a silly mistake.
if its proven its the installers faut then i would contact the installer ot cover the cost of removal and refund alarm cost.
then go for an OE alarm

Yep.....few months back a 'installer' (no names mentioned messed up....cost £4,000 to put right (about what car was worth) & was off road for 3 months...luckily poor guy got full refund from installer for car & brought new one(y)

Ref breaking imto wiring and Fiat oking same, I bought an Fiat accessory back up alarm, the type with the 2 sensors each side of the number plate for £20 off ebay.
The salesman joked about problems with breaking into wiring etc and time it took to wire it in, but when I expressed concerns about this he laughed and said it was really no problem, and they fitted it for free anyway!

It could be as simple as it being wired to flash the indicators, I got the amber light on (by removing a bulb to see how the blown bulb warning syslem worked  replaced the bulb and it went off) Its my assumption (could be wrong) that the system monitors the resistance of the circuit if there is an extra draw or a higher resistance it lights up... I had no problem with the towbar electrics with a 7 way bypass relay either, sounds to me like the alarm boffin has made a mistake
