Knocking Noise!

I keep getting a knocking noise if I go over small bumps at low speed. Anybody got any clues?

I've heard about the stearing rack problem with some of the GP's

most likely the rack, pop into your fiat dealer and they will check it and replace it if needed

Are you guys sure you are getting the new type of steering rack in the UK, because here in Holland Fiat still didn't come with a solution or new type of steering rack. They used to replace the steering racks with the same old type but Fiat NL has advised the dealers not to replace them no more since they are likely to fail again.

Re: Knocking Noise!

What is causing the noise? Is it safe just to continue normal driving?

Wink Re: Knocking Noise!

I had a new rack fitted on Wednesday this week, after Dealer Principal and I had a chat, Service Manager and his guys were'nt sure they could hear a problem but the order was given and they responded!
He and I discussed it afterwards and they have had one or two GP's with a dodgy nsf shocker/strut making a noise.
In normal driving you can't hear mine, but when I drove over a compacted stone car park at steady speed it rattled like a bugger, have got to try it again in same circs, fingers crossed, or as suggested by Dealer Principal it will have to have a nsf shock fitted.

By the way the chat was not a barney, if you have a good relationship with a sensible Dealer you don't need to bang the desk, thank goodness.
By the way some threads read I appear to be very fortunate in that respect, any other people who have a positive relationship with their dealer?, we seem to hear a lot about the negatives!

Re: Knocking Noise!

I got on well with my dealer, I always get a free courtesy car even though their insurers say I have to be 21 and I'm only 20 they arrange it with their insurers for me.

But they are quite far from me, about 45mins drive. My local dealer is useless, I know more about FIAT's than they do. as soon as I mention the word Stilo they get confused
