Hi I'm a newbie on here.

I registered because my missus parents have just bought a Grande, and we were playing aroun with it today.

There's just one button on the dash which we can't work out what it stands for or what it does.

It's a button with ECO on it.

Could someone plz tell me what that does and what it stands for, cause it's not iin the manual either that the got with the car.

Really appreciate any response.

I think it has to do with the electronic climate control.

I found this about a Toyota:

And now that I mentioned climate controls, let me say that they, in themselves are a pain to use sometimes. Toyota included an ECO mode for the climate controls where unless the temperature selection is on absolute maximum, minimum, or front defrost setting the climate controls operate in a more efficient manner, (hoping) to benefit fuel economy. But, if I have it set to ECO, by activating a button to the left, under the steering wheel, and I scroll through the different mode settings (panel, bi-level, floor, etc…) passing through the floor/windshield and windshield modes turns the ECO setting off. Going back to any of the other settings does not resume ECO mode. I have to remember to, manually, engage it by depressing the ECO button again. If I forget, I may not be operating in as an efficient manner as I would have originally thought and hoped—somewhat defeating the purpose of ECO mode.

So basically its got something to do with the climate control.

But that guy who ya quoted for sounds fun:D

But I don't really get it, does anyone else or the member who posted know?

Or can some shed some more light on it?

Appreciate the replies:cool:

Your parents car doesn't have the dualogic gearbox does it?

If the ECO button is for the climate control it's a brand new thing they are using.
I can't remember seeing a fiat with climate control which included a ECO button (incl. on my own Stilo), but I do know that the dualogic gearbox have an ECO button.

My dual climate has a button with the, how can I describe it, snowflake type icon, you know what I mean, the one used to represent AirCon. It says in the manual that with it off, the AirCon compresser is turned off, thus as mentioned in an earlier post, not working the system too hard and saving fuel.

I can only guess that some button have an Eco icon while others have the snowflakey type thing icon....?

That's my guess anyway, prolly miles off :)

I have dualzone climate control and that does NOT have a ECO button so dont think its for that. If you have automatic then it will be for the economy shift mode of the gearbox.

The ECO button is for Dualogic only!

I sell these things and unless its an Auto it's not supposed to be there!

It changes the driving style of the auto gearbox to change sooner.
