Re: Help! My car is leaking!

On the subject of economy which was mentioned earlier in this post......Me and the wife have just got back from a friends wedding in Shropshire. It was a round trip of about 180 miles and we went in her car, a 1.2 8v Dynamic. I bet a chinese on me against an indian on her tonight that I could get a better MPG on the M-way than she could. She took me up on the offer but insisted on driving down, she had this idea that heading south on the M6 means you are going downhill, but thats my missus. Rules were simple, no faster than 70, no slower than 60.

The results, according to the fuel computer and over a distance of 90 miles:
The wife......46.8mpg
Me..............48.6mpg

It took about an hour and a half to make the trip and we both tried our absolute hardest to keep the mpg figure as high as possible. It wasnt a normal driving style for either of us and its was a good laugh! I think there is going to be very very little room for improvement on these figures.

Chicken jalfezi please!

Dont know about you but that cant be good in the longterm surely??
Mine does exactly the same.

T, is it a fault that water gets in, or is the reason for the drain hole there because thats how the bootlid was designed to let in water then let it run out again?

Re: Help! My car is leaking!

Sorry but thats not a drain hole.

The small hole to the side is nothing more than a means to install the bung onto the tailgate in the first place. As such the boot door remains sealed while the door is closed.

As soon as you open the door the hole is exposed and the water pisses out.

Thanks for all your replies about the leaking Grande Punto, I've had enough with Fiat Uk and the dealerships, SOLD it! Bought a Volvo c30, hope they have a better attitude to customer service than Fiat UK. Newdog22, sighing off for good.

Re: Help! My car is leaking!

I can see pattern developing here. It would seem to me that the older and more experienced car owners in general are the ones displaying the most dissatisfaction towards the GP and Fiat dealers. Whereas the younger owners, who have probably never owned and lived with several brand new cars in the past seem to be more tolerant.

In fairness the comment "Any brand new car can develop faults" is true, but I think also worthless. My experience of car ownership would lead me to say "Any brand-new car can develop faults....but some brand-new cars will develop more than others" I gave up whinging on about my GP, its problems and my dealer months ago when I got all the issues sorted but the fact remains, my GP initially had more problems than any of the last 5 brand new cars I have owned either privately or company.
