Styling Problem with my Sportings Alloys...

Kinda in two minds what to do at the moment....

I've noticed over the last 2 months or so when cleaning my wheels that it seems somethings got under the laquaer and marking/corroding the face of my alloys. To start with it was just some small marks around the centre caps but its steadily got worse...

The fronts are by far the worst, as one of the backs has no marks at all and the other only has one small mark.

I clean my alloys regualary and i dont use any acid based wheels cleaners or anything like that, all i use is a bit of car shampoo with warm water. So i cant see that its this doing it to them and surely if it was, all the wheels would have these marks and not only 3 of them...

I attached some pictures of the 3 wheels, the pics dont show the marks up too badly but they are quite noticable. Well to me they are cause its my car

So my questions are....

Has anyone else had this problem? or noticed marks on their alloys?

You think i got a good enough case to take the car back to the dealers and asked for it to be sorted?

Just kinda worried they're say its my fault, but i cant see how it is...

Looks suspect. Yeah unfortunatly looks like a trip to the dealers. Have you been doing any driving aggressivly with alot of heavy breaking? As i've known that to happen at high brake temperatures it did it on my Furby vRS when the brake servo control unit failed and locked my brakes half on at about 90mph.

Could just be a slight bubble in the laquer.

I spend most of my time on the motorway and have to slam my brakes on now and again cause of people driving like idiots at rush hour but i wouldnt say it was really heavy braking...

Think i'm just gonna ring the dealer tomorrow and see what they say

The rim where the cap sits in appears to be a sharp edge, instead of chamfered or rolled edge. It would be easy for salt to get an edge and work it's way under the lacquer. The bolt recesses look slightly chamfered and less at risk. Can you confirm?

yeah the bolt edges are chamfered/rolled and the centre caps arent...

I wonder whether its cause mines an early sporting, theyve changed in anyway?

I'd be tempted to get them looked at now rather than later. A good refurbisher will get a radius scraper and chamfer them out before cleaning them up.

My car is the same age as yours Bob - just had a good look and my wheels are fine - would go to the dealers and see what they say if were you - they may fob you off but make sure you get something on record that you complained about them in case it gets worse over time - made me paranoid now i will be checking all the time.

I think its a warranty issue matey.

I think I saw someone post a similar problem not long since.

But suffice to say I will be keeping an eye on my little sporting's alloys

Spoke to Dealer today and they want to see the car, as they will have to take pictures of the wheels with a sign in the picture with the cars chassis number etc...

Will let you know how i get on....

Update!

Been to the dealers today, after sales manager looked at them and was like its the first one ive seen with this problem... Took some pictures of the wheels and filled in the warrenty stuff and said he'll contact me next week to get it sorted

Been to the dealers today, after sales manager looked at them and was like its the first one ive seen with this problem... Took some pictures of the wheels and filled in the warrenty stuff and said he'll contact me next week to get it sorted

When you have any issues with your car, can you go to any Fiat dealer or do you have to go to the one where you purchased the car?

Dealers rang me today, i gotta go over tomorrow and they're gonna order me a brand new set of sporting alloys
