Hi thanks for the invitation to courtesy myself in the newbie section if i wanted to make friends i would have joined a social networking site I thought this was a forum where we talked about our opinion of fiat cars well my opinion is you ignore major faults with a car at your peril plenty of car makers are long gone with that attitude.

did you not take a test drive before you parted with your hard earned money if you found fiat and the gp to be so crap why did you buy it in the first place if you hate it so much then just sell it if this site is too friendly to newbies and its members then its ok you don't need to come to ff as i dont think anyone is really forcing you

You obviously mistake this forum for one of the usual run of the mill forums!

This is a community,we talk about good & bad aspects of our cars, arrange meet ups/shows,raise money to keep this forum going from which alot of this comes from grateful members of this forum & yes alot of us are friends...whats wrong with that?

I think you might be better off writing to fiat/citizens advice etc about the complaints of your car,we are more than willing to try & help with these (if you look throughout the forum you will see this) however dont expect people to spend their own free time to listen/answer to your problems with that kind of attitude.

Anyway, the 1.3 90bhp is not that terrible, i drove one for a few days and was impressed for a small engine. Just get used to keeping the turbo spinning up by changing gear at the right time, either way, you bought it surley having test drove it? There is no fault with it, it just isnt that fast and never was, it does what it says on the tin

Sorry, I disagree. The turbo lag takes a bit of getting used to but this engine has phenomenal torque for a 1.3 litre (diesel). With 6 gears there is always one which allows the engine to wind up from 1750rpm where the torque is highest - making this very useable for overtaking. The engine turns at little more than 2000rpm at 70mph and is virtually inaudible above 30mph. My 1.3 MJ 90 has done 15000 miles since March and the car has regularly returned 58mpg. And the service interval is 18000 miles. What more could you ask from an engine?

(y):worship: I agree totally with Mad Mike. The 1.3 litre diesel with 6 gears is a great little motor, with plenty of torque(unless you're a boy racer). Also the official Aust Fiat fuel consumption figure is 4.6 litres per 100kms. This is very near Hybrid(4.4litres) figures. I'm getting 4.9 litres per 100kms consistently. So very happy..:D:D

I don't want to fuel argument here but I have to disagree whole heartedly with the comments promoting the 90hp MJet.

I do agree however with the Fiat groups decision to discontinue it in this spec and What Car? for naming it as the worst version of the GP.

end of the day its a 1.3 engine wether it has a turbo or not, theres no subsitute for CC's!

no replacement for displacement ;)

As for the 1.3 90bhp, I would rather that with the 6speed box then the 75bhp versions which is what I have. The 90bhp version does suffer with turbo lag but you can drive round it very easily!

Well here @ Eur0pcar we have loads of Fiats, i ran a report a month or so ago to show every fiat on fleet that has gone wrong since the start of 06.... enjoy ;)

Reg numbers and various other details removed because i'm probably not allowed to post this...

Great post!

Most of them seem to be door/window faults?

A lot of door related faults! How many cars is this over?

Great post!

Most of them seem to be door/window faults?

They were, as we (hire car companies) buy loads of new vehicles, we find out the problems before the consumer (usually) the door hinge problem was massive at the start/end of 06, but i believe that most of the 07 vehicles have had this problem sorted? or at least it seems to be dying down a little bit.

thanks for clicking the thanks button! i'll keep you guys updated

I have attatched the same document but sorted by Problem, so you can see the full extent of the door/CDL problems....

I cant tell you how many vehicles this covers as we buy and sell them all the time, but at any one point we have about 700 fiats, but like i say that report doesn't show this in relation to "700" as during the period that it was measured over we had renewed the stock of some vehicles. to put it in perspective, we have about 7 fiats in dealers at the moment. and also bare in mind that in the report ,the same vehicle could have gone in for many faults, it is a list of "warranty repairs", not "cars gone in under warranty". i hope that makes sense.

Enjoy ;)

This is why fiat introduced recall 5119 (best service) this addressed all those silly niggly faults & gets them all done at once. There is (as mentioned) nothing serious in the list but the little faults are numerous and annoying to customer.

T. Could you expand on recall 5119. Was this a general release recall for all GP owners? Sorry if it has been discussed before, did a quick search and could not find anything. Brain is fuddled due to excesses of New Year.

No only certain vehicles. Its nothing urgent & often carried out during a service so everything gets done at once,if needed/required.

Bottom two elements on mine have never worked since day one.
i had the exact same fault. took it to grays in warwick, they enquired with fiat 3 weeks later they replaced it! What more could you want ;) (except for it not to be faulty in the first place)

Mine was because there were gaps in the elements, that the fault of whoever manufacters the window, not really fiats fault.

T. Thanks for that. You say its nothing urgent & often carried out during a service so everything gets done at once,if needed/required. However, unless I specifically ask the garage to do a check, how am I supposed to know it has been done? Do appreciate that your integrity would make sure that you covered it. But what about the garage's you don't work in!!!!!!!!!!!
Christ, I am getting paranoid again. All uncle Arnold's fault.
