Occasionally as I start to pull away the speedo quickly spins all the way to 100mph, as it does this speed sensitive volume of the radio increases and when the speed warning is turned on that beeps at me aswell. This is exactly what happened before and it had the body computer reset, then replaced and now its happening again.

radio volume should increase with road speed...but obviously not when pulling away.If you have ABS I suggest tech scopes out roadspeed signals first.

Yeah I have abs (All new cars have to have abs by law ;)) I will mention it to them when I go in. Doesnt bother me too much taking it in as its under warranty and I'll get an Alfa 147 as a courtesy car :)

Hi All!

Just recently joined the GP club :) I’ve had my punto grande for around 4 months now and I have had the following issues: :bang:

Grinding brakes – dealer says the bloody pads are fine

Hard knocking on the front when going over bumps - dealer resolved this by replacing the steering rack. (Since this got done, I’m experiencing loads of other problems with the steering, these include steering delay and I’ve noticed the steering gets very heavy on normal and city drive)

Very annoying dashboard and side creaks, out of line too – dealer said it would be very difficult to fix that

Just recently i have noticed that the car has gone very bouncy too, incredibly annoying... Noticeable when going over small bumps or driving on the high way - dealer checked all suspensions and can’t find anything...

Has anybody had any similar issues that could point me in the right direction in solving the suspension/steering issues?

Thanks!

Had my car nearly two months and have had several problems, mainly build quality. A shame really because it would be an excellant car if they resolved the build quality issues.

1. Something rattling round under carpet, dealer initially denied but later found a loose pop rivet in the sill.

2. Arrived with big scrape across dash and small whole in the surround. Free service offered and taken.

3. Accelerator pedal creaking and loose, refitted

4. Something loose and rattling in A pillar- can't be bothered to go back again yet.

5. Vibrating dash vent- initially told 'its plastic so can't do much' eventhough none of the others vibrate like mad- on the to do list.

6. Annoying squealing/squeak coming from engine, started off just at idle but hear when change gear and engine cold, seems be getting worse. Sounds like a belt or something. Anyone any Ideas? think its a trip to dealers

7. Not really a problem but bad sagging in the drivers seat. Its leather and I have only done 4000 miles. I am 11st so not that big but already two hollows in the sponge, its quite funny but it is nowhere near as comfortable as the passenger seat which is nice and firm. All the fittungs underneath seem fine. Has anybody else experience this with the leather?

well experienced my first fault last night, twice :p

If someones used the passenger window switch, and then i try to use my window switch for the passenger window it doesnt work, i have to reach over and using the passenger switch, wind the window down and back up again to get my switch to function.

it doesnt happen all the time but it happened twice last night and once today. ive seen the passenger window control unit mentioned a few times, should i suspect it?

And I have a "Check Running Lights" warning accompanied by a yellow warning triangle, posted about it in the GP Technical forum, all bulbs are ok, including the hi-level light.

Had the first fault with my '06 GP (manual air-conditioning) - air direction/flap control jammed - unable to select "Windscreen" for demisting - highly annoying problem considering the current weather we are having!

In the dealers for three days, ended up having the heater control panel and heater box (with the flaps in it) replaced, which was apparently a "dash-out" job.

Apart from a small screwdriver slip scratch on the "new" heater panel, :bang:, the interior appears to have got through the ordeal unscathed, and my heater is working OK again. This was all covered by warranty, and I got a courtesy car, so I suppose I didn't do too badly. I reported the scratched panel straight away on seeing it, but can't really take any more time off work to sort it

Dave.

List of problems to date as follows:

Passenger side window "fell out" of its runners as I drove out of the garage when I collected it.
Driver side window switch failed, back twice for this as dealer fitted wrong one on 1st repair.
Tailgate solenoid failed.
ABS sensor failed.
Poorly aligned bonnet, dealer said it couldnt be improved but a local bodyshop said otherwise and managed to do it. (Claimed the cost back from the dealer)
Noisy heater fan motor.
Original wiper blade split after 2 weeks
Squealing front brakes.
Centre console trim in footwell replaced, original kept becoming loose.
HRW switch replaced, original became stuck in the on position.
Poorly aligned glovebox lid, back twice for this and it was eventually replaced.
Driver side internal door release failed. (This was repaired immediately and I give them credit)
Windscreen vent panel lifted, been done twice but is starting to lift again for the 3rd time.
CANCHECK error message 3 times, but only when very cold outside.
I suspect the tailgate is leaking but cant confirm it just yet.

I am presently waiting for my dealer to confirm a date when the deadlock mechanism can be repaired and finaly.......and at the risk of sounding pedantic...the washer bottle top broke off and went missing!

In fairness none of the faults I have suffered could be described as serious mechanical issues, juts niggly little problems that reinforce the long standing reputation Fiat have for building "flimsy" cars.
The general view of the motoring press is that Fiat products have greatly improved in the last few years but they still have a long way to go in improving build quality and dealer service. I have owned a GP for 14 months now and the experience is telling me they are 100% correct.

Switch bank....2 minute job to renew.

Dave.

Sure it didn't just need the directional gear re-aligned (done this loads of times)?

My cars back in today, they are going to look into the fault with the speedo and have said if they can get the car to replicate the problems I have had with the gearbox then they will try and get me a recon one.
