My fiat grande punto,s power steering failed to work, red battery charging light stayed on. After 10 mile with no power steering, stopped the car for an hour, the fault then corrected itself. It says in the manual that the red city power steering light should come on the dashboard. this did not happen, only the battery wrning light came on. This was two days ago, the fault has not happened since, although the car has been driven about 50 miles.
Does anybody know why this could happen.

Some Grande have had a connection problem on the battery power cable onto the 70 amp fusable link. All that needs to be done is for the connection to be repositioned and retightened, contact your dealer to look at it for yoo.

I think that happened on mine but something alot worse happened to me. All my Dial's stopped working including fuel and speedo and all the dash lights came on and I couldn't even use my Stereo :(. I took it in and they had it fixed within 45mins just said it was a loose cable on something to do with the ECU.

I had the same problem the day I picked up the car, was told it was a "software glitch" took it back to the dealer who fiddled with it for a while and must have done something as it hasn't happened again
